I think it was Hungerstrike, but it may of been Jeremy. Whichever came out first is the one I heard first. Jeremy is the first only Pearl Jam song I heard, but as far as hearing Eddie, it may have been hungerstrike. I remember hearing Hungerstrike when it first came out on the radio in Huntsville Alabama. They played it everyday at 12 when i was at work.

Then, I remember asking my ex, Is that two differant people singing in that song? He said, Yes its Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell. He also bought the Ten cd, and after I saw the Jeremy Video, I was hooked from then until today.

    GO!!

I was 13 and it was my sisters 16th birthday. She always loved music and i usually buy her cd's when i want to give her a gift or something.

In the week before, she gave me a list with some cd's and i would have to pick. I remember her saying she would like to try some heavier music (she used to listen to Bon Jovi and juvenile bands...).At the time, i have never heard a PJ song and that sheep in the Vs. booklet just looked funny...:)

I bought it, went home and before she arrived, i put in my discman. I was blown away...:)

Black at the age where i knew every radio song by heart, heard pj and never looked back.

I guess I was 11. I can remember the whole first run of Ten clearly. 92 I guess it was.

The first Pearl Jam song I heard was "Alive". Everyone was saying have you heard that song, "Alive". I was like "who, what". I had no clue. Then I heard it and I didn't think much of it. I was more of a Nirvana rat. Then my girlfriend at the time had the Ten cassette and I was addicted. I listened to it for hours and hours when I was delivering pizza for Dominos. I finally got to see them in '93 Indio, CA.

    alive.

i'd stopped listening to the radio in the late '80s. only listened to cds i already had or that people recommended. so i knew absolutely nothing about the "latest thing" and had given up hope that there would ever be any new music that i could be passionate about.

but i had just moved into a new apartment and my cd player wasn't hooked up yet. i had the radio on in my bedroom, and while i was mopping the bathroom i heard this voice. and i dropped the mop and followed the sound. and sat down on the floor and almost cried. that voice, coupled with those guitars, was the most beautiful thing i'd ever heard.

i'll skip the story about how i broke a hummel when i first heard release. :)

Black.......on the radio........and I was hooked for life.

    Here's the selfless confession:

God forgive me, but the first time I heard it, I turned to a friend and said "Who is this? Stone Temple Pilots?"

It was A live video shoot of PJ playing ALIVE around 91/92 right before PJ went on the lollapalooza tour. Eddie captivated me as soon as I saw and listened, I was floored with anticipation of what was going to be of this band! I had no idea they would do what they have done for the face of music to this day!

  • i don't remember the first one i heard, but i do remember one time i asked my sister what the title of Jeremy was... duh. and i used to think that in Daughter he was saying "don't call me... don't." the second "don't" came where ed gets real low to say daughter. i was young and didn't listen to lyrics much back then, obviously...
