Unreasonable Restrictions on Tickets?
Before I express my anger about what I fear to be true, I just want to confirm:
If I a friend of mine has tickets to a show (in this case, Miami2), is there really NO way for him to transfer the tickets to me directly? I am of course planning to pay him what he paid for them. We went over this or an hour yesterday, and are dumbfounded at this. He bought two tickets during the fan club lottery, invited me, now he has a family situation to deal with and can't go. We bought flights (from LA) and everything, and I can't for the life of me figure out how I can still go. To be clear, we're both 10C members (I sadly didn't win for that show), and he's been a member for over 25 years. This seems so normal we didn't ever think it would be an issue.
He saw that he can re-sell them on the open market (for a price TM dictates) but not transfer for them to a fellow PJ fan, which certainly prompted us to wonder if this is a money-making decision. But hoping not.

Yes the restrictions are dumb but yes, you could just use his login info for TM. I ahem know of many people doing that before without issue.1998-06-30 Minneapolis

I appreciate that advice, we did try that. Unfortunately now you have to add it to your Apple Wallet, and you can do that, but then it immediately says something like "These tickets are invalid since they're connected to a different Apple ID"
Sharing TM logins wouldn't be a big deal, but figuring out how to do all that with an Apple ID would be over the top...0 -
It was clearly stated in the Fan Club e-mail that tickets are non-transferable. Did neither of you read it?rlm2145 said:Before I express my anger about why I fear to be true, I just want to confirm:

I dont know. Again this seems so entirely reasonable and normal that it never occurred to either of us to be an issue. Is the issue here really my reading comprehension and not that it exists and all the pitfalls it creates?seanwon said:

Again, we're not trying to run some scam here. This is "Hey, I can't use these tickets tonight, here you go."
It's very annoying that the ONLY way he doesn't take a total bath on the tickets is to sell them back to TM, which they will mark up to $1,000 each and give him face value. What are we doing here? Who is benefitting?0 -
You don’t have to add to the wallet. If you login to their account the day of the show the barcode will be in the app. They usually add it a few days before the show. So, you can use your friend’s login and just scan the tickets from the app. No wallet needed.rlm2145 said:I appreciate that advice, we did try that. The sale isn’t back to TM. It’s via TM’s platform to a buyer. These days there are lots of bots but if you want to sell to someone there’s a way to send a link. It’s not guaranteed to work but some people have had success with it. Tons of people on here can elaborate.rlm2145 said:Again, we're not trying to run some scam here. It’s true. You don’t need to ever have them in your apple wallet, just scan directly in the TM app. The barcode will appear like 72 hours before the show.rlm2145 said:

There are no unreasonable restrictions. Do not buy 10C tix if you are not 100% certain you can go. It is that simple.0

Does this happen because you've already saved tickets to a first Apple ID wallet, and then later logging into someone else's device with their own Apple ID? Or, how do tickets become "connected" to the first Apple ID?rlm2145 said:I appreciate that advice, we did try that. If you are allowed to transfer then it just opens it up to people making backdoor deals for more than face value. You could just borrow the TM login for the show or try a coordinated drop. Those can be successful if both parties are on the same page but are also potentially open to bots sniping the tix. If it’s someone you know just boriw the TM login. They don’t need to be in your wallet and I’ve actually had more issues with tickets not scanning from the wallet than through the app.0

1. Tickets will load on any normal network - LTE, 5G, etc. Don’t need WiFi.2. If you’re really REALLY worried about it, you could literally go anywhere with wifi in the day or two before the show and load your ticket on the website and boom. There’s the tickets.3. The worst I’ve ever experienced a barcode loading was at a basketball game. It took 3 minutes. And that was it. Barcode loaded. Walked in.0 -
The first time I saw the issue was when someone else saved my partner’s tickets to their mobile wallet, prior to that my partner had never used the mobile wallet for TM tickets. It seems like the mobile wallet on the other person’s phone then got tied to my partner’s TM account and from then on he can no longer use his own tickets in his own phone.dmbolp said:

Yeah, the rules were clear, and have been in place for a few years now, as dumb as they are. However, glowgirl & others are correct, using your friends login is the way to go, and I wouldn’t t expect any WiFi issues at the Hard Rock casino.0
