    Particularly when you examine the record, you know, factual information and evidence. Like photos of dem class interns in Congress versus Repubs.     They are not exactly independent.  They are independently funded, relying on fees imposed on businesses to fund their budget.  They do not receive appropriations.  However, that has incentivized them to file many lawsuits with their army of lawyers, and forcing companies into consent orders with fines, rather than getting lawyered to death.  I know of a mid-size company that actually did take it all the way to trial and defeated the Bureau, and rightly so.  

    I won't mourn Chopra being gone.  The CFPB has made many mistakes and is certainly partially responsible for the rise of predatory subprime lending that is largely unregulated at this point.
