House has nothing to do with confirmations. Strictly Senate.  First interviews with varioys Senators by nominee,  then hearings are held in the appropriate committee for the position , that gets voted up or down to the full Senate vote.

The FY 2022 budget request continues to hold safety as the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) highest priority while preparing the organization to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.

For FY 2022, the FAA’s budget request of $18.5 billion represents an increase of 2.7 percent from the FY 2021 enacted level (not including coronavirus response supplemental funding). This funding level allows the FAA to make continued investments to safeguard the most complex airspace in the world. It also allows the FAA to future proof the nation’s airspace by continuing the deployment of NextGen technologies as well as safely and securely integrating new entrants such as unmanned aircraft systems and commercial space. In addition, the budget request supports our ongoing efforts to address the impacts aviation has on our environment and climate by overcoming barriers to the development of sustainable aviation fuels and accelerating the maturation of technologies to reduce noise, emissions and fuel burn from new commercial aircraft and engines.

This budget request works hand in hand with the American Jobs Plan to invest in the modernization of our aviation infrastructure. The budget invests $1 billion to improve the physical condition of the FAA facilities that house the workforce and technology at the heart of the FAA’s air traffic control system. Aviation is a significant portion of the U. S. economy and is critical to the nation’s economic growth. This investment will ensure it remains a vibrant source for job creation and opportunity. As the FAA continues to operationalize NextGen, this budget requests $1 billion to deliver the benefits of these innovations to the users of the nation’s airspace.

Operations - The FY 2022 budget request of $11.4 billion for Operations represents an increase of $432.6 million (3.9 percent) from the FY 2021 enacted level. This funding level will improve aviation safety and the FAA’s ability to respond to industry innovation, while providing sufficient resources for anticipated cost increases. This funding level enables us to preserve the highest level of safety in the national airspace while investing in innovation. The Operations request funds approximately $303 million in uncontrollable cost increases for FY 2022, including a 2.7 percent pay raise, FERS increase, and the transition of capital programs from Facilities & Equipment.

The budget includes an additional $129.7 million in targeted investments, which include $11.8 million for Enterprise Information Management (EIM), $17.4 million for improving aviation safety oversight, $38 million for cybersecurity, $2.4 million for an expanded FAA international presence, $23.1 million for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) integration, $21.4 million for Remote Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement, $3.7 million for commercial space operational staffing and support, $1.5 million for Safety Assurance System development and risk analysis, $7.6 million for community noise engagement, $2.3 million for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Aviation and Space Education, and $325 thousand for the Office of Civil Rights’ National External Operations Program.

Fair enough, so maybe lead with that instead of just pointing the finger at Trump. Lay out, "Under President Biden a bipartisan bill was signed in to law in in May 2024 to address...." People don't remember that at all so push it out there and say you did something even though the previous admin (Trump) did not. Make the focus what your party helped accomplish and will continue to do, not the failing of someone else.

Schumer, Pelosi, et al were probably still fine for Trump's 1st term, but they are getting steamrolled. Jeffries has been decent, but needs to be more clear on what dems have done and what they will do.

Trump today claimed CBS “defrauded the public” in “the greatest broadcasting scandal in history” when it exercised normal editing procedures on a 60 Minutes interview with then–vice president Kamala Harris that he insisted—falsely—involved replacing her actual answers with others. Today, Trump called for CBS News and 60 Minutes to be “immediately terminated,” despite the fact that the U.S. Constitution protects the freedom of the press.

MAGA is amplifying right-wing lies. Today, influencers—including Musk—claimed that USAID secretly bankrolled Politico, claiming that the media site had taken $8 million from USAID. In fact, that sum was not an annual grant, but rather years of subscriptions from across the government to Politico Pro, a pricey subscription service for data and legislative analyses for lobbyists and government officials. “Politico…has never taken a cent of government subsidies or state funding,” said the chief executive officer of its parent company. “[P]eople are paying for… [Politico Pro] because they need the service,” he said. “It’s not subsidies, it’s capitalism.” When Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) joined the chorus parroting the lie, fact-checkers noted that her office is a subscriber: it paid $7,150 for a yearlong subscription starting last January.   

Nonetheless, Trump posted in all-caps that it "LOOKS LIKE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN STOLLEN [sic] AT USAID, AND OTHER AGENCIES, MUCH OF IT GOING TO THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA AS A 'PAYOFF' FOR CREATING GOOD STORIES ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS."

Another story spreading disinformation appeared today after the State Department claimed that Panama had agreed to let U.S. government vessels transit the Panama Canal for free. Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino told reporters that the story was “lies and falsehoods” and noted that he had told Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that he doesn’t have the legal authority to waive transit fees for anyone.

This morning, at the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump boasted that he had delivered water to California, saying: “The water comes down from the northwest parts of Canada, I guess, but the Pacific Northwest. And it comes down by millions and millions of barrels a day and uh, I opened it up. It wasn’t that easy to do. But I opened it up and it’s pouring down.” Camille von Kaenel and Annie Snider of Politico talked to Trump supporters among California’s farmers. They reported today that the 2 billion gallons of water Trump dumped onto the ground last week was water for irrigation that could never make it to the Los Angeles fires, which were under control by the time he dumped the water, in any case. For now, the farmers are sticking with Trump despite the loss of the water intended for their fields in the dry summer, but called for “close coordination” over the “incredibly complex” California water system.
