I love this track. Still hoping a studio version will be released at some point.
    Yes!  Studio version please.

Honestly it’s one of my favorite things they’ve ever done. I’ve somehow been lucky enough to see it live twice and it was absolute fire both times!!!!

This is the version recorded during the Backspacer sessions? Absolutely fantastic. More lyrics than the live versions.

It is a studio version. Apparently from Backspacer sessions. Has some extra lyrics/vocals in the middle but I kinda understand why they were left off the live versions. It’s good (it’s obviously a good song) but not really any better than the live versions on nugs

Of The Earth should have been in place of Sleeping By Myself on Lightning Bolt imo. I think the band has been quoted that it will never be on an album and just a cool song that they play live every once and awhile. Seems like people love this song or hate it.
Agreed!  Personally, I would get rid of "Sleeping By Myself" and "Let the Records Play" on Lightning Bolt... man, those songs back-to-back are rough and completely deflates that album.  Fill that hole with a 7 or 8 minute "Of the Earth" with a big jam session.

I agree with others in this thread that it would have fit great with Gigaton, but I don't feel like anything on that album is as weak as "Sleeping By Myself" and "Let the Records Play".  Yes, I'll even defend "Buckle Up"!

This song is almost a decade old and way overhyped. Stop wishing for it to be on the next studio album.
"True Love Waits" is a song by the English rock band Radiohead. Radiohead worked on it for over two decades before releasing it on their ninth album, A Moon Shaped Pool (2016).

There's always time to get that definitive album version!  Also, disagree with it being overhyped.  I think it's a unique PJ song, not many others like it in the catalog.  And I love the idea of it being an extended studio track... hell, have Jack White guest on the studio version and capture that Third Man Records magic as a studio cut.

Ironically the very first arrangement of True Love Waits was still the best IMO (the version they played live during the OKC tour rather than the one they released in 2001 or on A Moon Shaped Pool) so there's always a danger that the longer a band sits on a song, the more they overthink it.

Having heard it live a number of times I do not get the constant request for this to be recorded on an album.  I'd be happy for it to be played live, say once a tour, but whilst I like it, it wouldnt make my top 50 PJ songs (potentially 100).

My first was Pemberton 16, and it's still my favourite.   People knock festival shows, but that one was out of the park with an amazing setlist.

That was a great setlist, another festival with a solid setlist was Telluride
