I don't care what any stupid biased article says or what anyone here says that disagrees. Biden is an old man...he's still capable. Yes he stutters, yes he is slower to respond, slower to walk, etc., but no one in their right mind can listen to the guy talk about important subjects the way he STILL DOES and prove any disservice.

I personally don't think he should have run again. But that doesn't change the fact that he's still capable. As someone dealing with a parent with early onset Alzheimer's I do have some experience with this.

A reporter pressed the White House Friday on why President Biden has not been speaking publicly as government shutdown is now just hours away.

“Why hasn’t President Biden said anything in the public about this? Don't the American people deserve to know why millions of federal workers could enter this holiday period without a paycheck?” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Friday during her daily press briefing.

“All Americans need to know that Republicans are getting in the way here, and they are the ones who have created this mess. That's the reality. That's the fact,” she responded. “This is not the first time we've been here. And the president has had this approach before. He understands how Congress works. He's been around for some time. He understands what strategy works here to get this done.

Jean-Pierre said Friday that President Biden has been in contact with Democrat leaders in Congress – Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.

President Joe Biden spoke with Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill on Friday, the White House said, the first time the administration has confirmed that Biden is involved with Congressional negotiations to avoid a government shutdown.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said “just moments” before an afternoon press briefing, Biden spoke with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

“Also, just to add that the president does indeed get regular updates. He has been getting ready regular updates from his team,” Jean-Pierre said. “His team has been in touch with members, congressional members from both sides of the aisle, and certainly he will continue to stay updated.”

Asked why the president hadn’t spoken to the American people or been more involved in negotiations, Jean-Pierre said Biden has “had this approach before.”

“He understands how Congress works,” she said. “He’s been around for some time. He understands what strategy works here to get this done. So, this is not, this is not the first time.”

She also continued to place the blame squarely on Republicans for the potential shutdown.

I hope you understand that Trump supported the original deal until Musk came out on X against it, and then Trump changed his mind. Now if I was cynical, I might say that the reason Musk was against the original deal was the provision that limited business investment in China, investment that Tesla is gearing up to make to support in semiconductors, AI and quantum technology. But that would be cynical to think that the billionaire foreigner running a shadow gov't would lie on X about a deal to advance his personal interests.
