    Pretty sure the 2013 tour was the first lottery. Before that it was seniority - so it wasn't technically "guaranteed" but if you had a good number then it was virtually guaranteed. There was a lot of fan pushback at the time about the same people always getting the best seats, so that's why the lottery came in.
    It makes sense.   I saw (3) shows in 96, and (2) in 1998, and several in the early 2000's and I would run into the SAME people in the seats around me.   If anyone was there, especially the 1996 shows - does anyone remember the guy dressed up as a white cow?   Random but unforgettable.

    Cow guy was in Fenway this year!

    Staying at the Omni and flying solo. Probably just want to hang out around the hotel/arena. Hit a couple bars and eat some food. 

    Any recommendations within walking distance?

    I was in Pittsburgh this past weekend. I brought my son to his first Steelers game and we had a blast! Heinz History Museum was a lot of fun. 6 floors of exhibits with 2 of the floors being dedicated to Pittsburgh sports. And I second Primanti Bros. We went there twice on our 3 day trip.

    Perfectly fine to stay in. It's just in a weird spot. Most of the city is connected and you can walk between neighborhoods, but Beechview is across the river, through a tunnel on the other side of a mountain lol. It's the last neighborhood officially part of the city of Pittsburgh before you hit the suburbs.

    Damn,  just got the word, unfufilled.    This is the first time in almost 30 years (since 1996) that I didn't get the tickets I requested after 17 successful shows through the fan club system.

    these areas are safe with restaurants and bars all over.  

    Lawrenceville has lots of bars, restaurants, bowling alley.  Up and coming area.  

    Sorry to the other poster but stay away from the triangle bar.  It’s a huge hoagie but it’s just low quality. 

    And someone mentioned stay away from the south side after dark.  Young, drunk, stupid kids every weekend.

    Plenty of other safe places besides those. And Lawrenceville was "up and coming" two decades ago, man - it's been "arrived" for a while.
