#46 President Joe Biden

There is a long history of presidents giving preemptive pardons.OnWis97 said:I've changed my tune on the pardon. The moment Patel was put into the ring for FBI is the moment the whole "going after Trumps enemies" thing became all but official. Fuck it, Joe; go against the norms and make up your own rules like they do all the time. I wish MAGA -suckup Dems like Dean Phillips would start making up their own rules once in a while.
Im all for it
What are they going to do to him if he does it?

Enjoyed Jon Stewart's take:

Most people know he lied. They aren't doing the mental gymnastics. If he was concerned about more prosecutions, why not leave the current crimes he was convicted of, and pardon any unprosecuted crimes? I assume that would be possible.0 -
“Know he lied”.So when he said he’d be a transitional president, then announced later he was running for a second term, was it a lie, or did he change his mind based on changing circumstances? When he said he wasn’t dropping out of the race, then dropped out, was he a liar, or did he change his mind based on changing circumstances? It’s not semantics to know the difference between lying and changing your mind. It’s not mental gymnastics to know you don’t know a person’s intent in the absence of one shred of evidence either way.The funny thing is, all those claiming to know his original intent regarding Hunter, I don’t recall one single post at the time saying they didn’t believe him, or anyone calling him a liar. That and the fact that the “mental gymnasts” just don’t really give a fuck.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

If I'm Biden, I'm doing the same thing. Fuck playing by the "rules" - the very rules that the GOP shits on at every turn.
The Kash Patel announcement changes everything. It's going to be a revenge tour. Hunter would have died in prison. At a minimum actions like what he has called for would result in massive civil rights lawsuits/settlements that the US taxpayer will end up footing the bill for.
Schiff has said that he doesn't want a pardon. Basically a "bring it on" attitude.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I don't like the idea of preemptive pardons because it's all BS talk right now anyway. They've been saying this for years and convicted no one for any wrong doing that held office. Let them waste tax dollars grandstanding so the low IQ voters get a chuckle out of the misguided accusations instead of feed the conspiracy theorists.Gern Blansten said:At a minimum actions like what he has called for would result in massive civil rights lawsuits/settlements that the US taxpayer will end up footing the bill for.

It's funny to see that trump's DOJ overreached and reviewed info on Kash Patel during that big sweep for leaks. More to come over the next four years.
What a fucking clown show.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Can you at least entertain the thought that he lied? Is it so strange to believe that a politician lied, or that people would think someone lied when someone does something they said they wouldn't do multiple times? If this was Trump, you'd say he was a liar. Just accept that you have biases like everyone does.HughFreakingDillon said:“Know he lied”.So when he said he’d be a transitional president, then announced later he was running for a second term, was it a lie, or did he change his mind based on changing circumstances? When he said he wasn’t dropping out of the race, then dropped out, was he a liar, or did he change his mind based on changing circumstances? It’s not semantics to know the difference between lying and changing your mind. It’s not mental gymnastics to know you don’t know a person’s intent in the absence of one shred of evidence either way.The funny thing is, all those claiming to know his original intent regarding Hunter, I don’t recall one single post at the time saying they didn’t believe him, or anyone calling him a liar. That and the fact that the “mental gymnasts” just don’t really give a fuck.

I’ve said several times he could have very well lied. My position is I don’t know, so in the absence of evidence, not guilty.bootlegger10 said:

That’s 2 parts bias and 8 parts knowledge of the POS person he is that we know lies compulsively. He does himself no favours. If he said the sky was blue I’d look up to make sure. It’s not a partisan thing either, btw. I would gove the benefit if the doubt to a good portion of republicans based on context and history.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -

the call was ordered by Esper...and I don't think that is what he saidChoccoloccotide said:
#1 on my list is he called China’s military behind the President’s back and said he would not attack them if given the order by the President. That’s effectively a military coup. He very well could have changed his mind. But it is convenient that he changed his mind after it politically did no harm to him. I am not a legal expert, but I gotta think that Biden could have narrowed the pardon and left the convictions in place that the facts did not change on.mickeyrat said:Gern Blansten said:

He and the media got a lot of mileage out of saying there would be no pardon. Look at us, we have such integrity and respect the rule of law. Election lost. Pardon done.Post edited by bootlegger10 on0 -
