I agree. And I don't think it had anything to do with trump back then, that was before he took office. The whole Michael Brown incident and BLM taking off was back in 2014. Before the whole escalator announcement even. I blame the culture of diversity training more than anything. And now everything is about race even when it isn't. BLM was calling for protests and riots after the penny verdict yesterday, which had nothing other than do with race.
I remember my first day in a new district back in 2018, we spent 2 days in diversity training where it was basically just white people = bad for 2 days. At the end of the second day a black co-worker stood up and said "I'm going home hating all white people" and he was applauded for his honesty. It didn't start with trump and its not going to end with him.

I knew what you meant. But I was point out they were already going downhill before that, so I don't see its fair to blame race relations on Trump. It started under Obama, but I wouldn't blame him either.

But why under Obama? Oh yeah...because trump questioned his citizenship?

I think you're giving trump too much credit for things going on in 2014.

Much of Trump fever in 2016 had to do with backlash of having a black president that went “too far” and the right needed to “take the country back”. It had little to do with diversity training. Republicans harnessed the anger and perceived white victimhood that came from a more egalitarian society.

I still hear the "division started with Obama" shit all the time. It started DURING Obama's term because of bullshit racism against the first black president.

Exactly. "We never worried about race until Obama got in." First of all, that's not true and has never been true. Second, I can't think of a single thing he did, outside of being black, that was racial divisive.

I've been wrong about two presidential elections dating back to 1984. One was 2008. I did not think America was ready to elect a black president. I was wrong. Turns out America was ready to elect a black president; it just wasn't ready to have a black president.

I hope not. I really hope one joke at the expensive of someone that was more thin-skinned than anyone realized was not the impetus for this entire nightmare.

To be fair, Seth Meyers went after him a bunch too.

I've watched that roast a few times over the years and it still kills.

I have this feeling that the Obama stuff bothered him more.

    Call it a hunch.
