I just don't worry about things that are outside of my control.  Makes for a much more pleasant existence.

Sometimes events happen that leave you no choice but to take action! Two weeks ago my 86 year old dad came down with a terrible cold my niece took him to urgent care he was prescribed an antibiotic & cough medicine! He proceeded to start drinking the cough medicine from the bottle so he was all out of sorts, vomiting dizzy and not good at all, so now my brother takes him to the emergency room because he’s complaining of pain in stomach and middle of his chest. Diagnosed with acid reflux and he actually burned his esophagus on top of having a terrible cough, so because he was alone he was not taking the correct dosage of cough medicine and Motrin! So me and my wife who’s a nurse decided when he gets discharged he’s coming home with me so he’s been here since last Saturday and he’s way better we manage all his medication and been monitoring he’s sugar levels he’s a type 1 diabetic! So this has my total attention having him here which is good to put things in perspective!

Good son, good job.  Kudos!  And best wishes for you dad!
It’s a lot of work but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

That's smart thinking.  My wife says the same thing.  Despite the fact that she keeps up on current event's and the like, she also keeps a good balance.  She's better at all that than I am.  I tell her, "You compartmentalize well!"

I don't watch TV news, besides weather abd traffic. I haven't for some years now.
That’s what I’m doing! I’ll come here check in on the MAGA contingency to see what crap they believe their savior will do for them!

I still read the news to some extent because I don't want to be ignorant about what is happening in the world, but I find that TV news/video has a much stronger effect on mental health and emotions than print news, which is why I now avoid it altogether, especially when it comes to Trump doing or saying anything. I can't tolerate his face or voice, so I avoid it completely so that I have less irritation in my life. Same goes for the talking heads on the TV who defend Trump or spread his propaganda. I can't watch that, or listen to people try to debate with them without feeling too angry and frustrated. Same goes for pretty much all political coverage on the TV actually, in Canada too, including local politics. It's just too annoying to view anymore.

That’s exactly my approach print news is much better for my mental health! Agreed the less I see of that face or hear that voice the better I feel it’s great!

Well, you certainly do spend quite a bit of your time posting messages about Donald Trump.  Maybe you need to take your own advice and step away for your mental health?  You and Brianlux both.  All the best!

Take @gimmesometruth27 for example.  They obsessed over Donald Trump just like josevoution, halifax Max, brianlux, and a few others on here.  But since election day has passed, gimesometruth27 has quietly retreated, possibly never to be seen again.  They literally took their ball, and went home.  Some of you should take notes.

Telling people to shut up on the internet.  Very classy, "mate".  You should be proud.
  • I have no interest in you or your politicians. None. Go post on the trump thread that's what it's for.
I'm as classy as they come cheers. Good day

Now that we are living in what Henry Rollins termed "an actual insane asylum", what things do you do to cope?  Naturally, we all want to DO something, but most of us haven't figured out exactly what that looks like yet, so in the meantime, most of us are more focused on coping.  So let's talk about the things you do to keep or get yourself centered.
Back in the early 1980's, I worked at a college bookstore with a young man named Scott  who had a very effective method for blowing off steam.  Just outside the store, there was a mailbox (remember mailboxes?).  When things really got to Scott, he would go out and open the mailbox shoot, stick his head inside, and holler at the top of his lungs.  It worked like a charm.  He came back to work with a smile on his face.  So as his empathetic boss (rush was a bitch!), I encouraged this behavior.  What Scott did looked something like this very crude drawing I included in one of my books (it was drawn spontaneously at that time, so I just kept it and never polished it up).

I highly recommend this therapy but I know it's no longer available to most of us (personally, I medicate with music).  So what things do you do to ease the tension of crazy tough times?

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I didn't think that's what he was doing but let him answer.

edit this post of yours ss well.

Yep we were discussing how good it feels not to see fuck face every day on tv! Because I’ve stopped watching tv unless it’s a movie or nature program I’m not sitting in front of a tv! There’s way too much to do to have fun, this is the only forum I spend time in! I’m not on any other social media platforms

Maybe removing yourself from this platform like @gimmesometruth27 has will help you cope as well?  I just notice you seem to be responding to every post with angry exclamation comments.  This environment can't possibly be good for your well-being either.  Cheers.

Well, for starters has anyone performed a wellness check for them?  Are you not concerned for our friend who went from living in these threads 24/7, to disappearing abruptly following the unfavorable election results?  That is not very kind hearted, Josevolution.
