  • I’ve never liked politics but I can’t fucking stand it nowadays. The thing I find that’s worse than ever is what @bootlegger10 mentioned, both sides look past and relentlessly defend their people and the people they want to like. Especially when it comes to Trump. People hate him so much they will literally say anything to defend Kamala even though she’s a terrible candidate. And don’t label me as some MAGA lover either as I’ve never voted for Trump. Anyway, disappointing to see the band hanging with Emhoff.
You have no idea if it is true or not. None.cause you read an article of Fox and Maga.com? You have no clue. Everyone is guilty if you read it on the internet!?!?. The thing with Trump is that he is guilty cause the guy is recorded and they have him in interviews confessing to his crimes. And Kamala def isn’t perfect, no candidate is but She’s not terrible, she has good ideas and is trying to bring people together. Your  argument makes zero sense. Disappointing cause the guys talked to her husband. Are you joking? Never seen so many judges on here with verdicts but no proof.
She’s has good ideas? 😂. She’s been in office for four years and hasn’t done shit but okay. And I get it…nobody can ever disagree or have a different opinion than the guys in Pearl Jam here on the forums.

BTW I genuinely think the band are really good people that do great things for communities and charities and such. Doesn’t mean we all as fans have to like every single thing they stand for.
So Kamala hasn’t done one thing while in office? Do more research guy. Educate yourself. You can disagree but your all or nothing statements make no sense. Educate yourself.

I am plenty educated, “guy”. I’m not going to waste my time going back and forth here when nobody is changing anyone’s mind. This is not the right thread for debate anyway. Have a nice day.

You have a nice day too but I can share some links to help prove  my point if you would like. Just trying to help provide some info to better educate yourself.

I think Imagine is terribly boring at live shows.  I was just thinking the other day in fact about how I don't really care for Ed's acoustic solo songs to start the encores at PJ shows anymore.   Full band.

He denied slapping his girlfriend so, no, I don't think he has repented for his sins.

Sounds like you are just making excuses because he supports the party you support.    The old "everybody does it" excuse.  Good stuff.

Great, but it wasn’t really about what songs you enjoy at which shows or not. I was asking if you were going to listen to a cover of a song written by a “wife beater”? Essentially, where does it end? PJ should’ve never covered I’ve Got A Feeling, I suppose, right? If you have that fan club single, you’ll get rid of it, right? Do you think it was a bad look to invite Dhani Harrison to play at PJ 20 since his father played in a band with a wife beater? How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go because eventually, no one will be left.

No, I’m not making excuses for his behavior. What he did was wrong. But I have 2 choices in this election, and one of them is fascism. So yeah, I’m going to overlook the fact that he slapped a woman.

Should I vote for Mussolini or Matteotti? Hmm, well, Matteotti’s wife did slap a guy once…

The argument isn't that they shouldn't vote for Harris or support her campaign. All of that can be accomplished without talking to Doug Emhoff.

Principled stands are more meaningful when you make a difficult decision in the process.

No curiosity on the matter.  Part of that is because it would be bad news for your political candidate.  So you say things like "Fox News" to discredit the accusations to mask your sincere lack of giving a shit that this woman was slapped and then made to feel small by this man.

You must be a saint. You listen to only music by people who have never done wrong. Only watch tv and movies that have actors with unblemished personal records. All of your political votes have only gone to outstanding citizens.

Oh wait, you like PJ. Didn’t a touring member of that group recently do something bad? Isn’t EV friends with Sean Penn? Remind me, he’s never been accused of any bad behavior before, right? Guess I won’t be seeing you here anymore!

Warning! Warning! Do not go to the right thread (AMT). It won't be pretty!

The argument isn't that they shouldn't vote for Harris or support her campaign. All of that can be accomplished without talking to Doug Emhoff.

Yes, this is the key point. Saying it's a bad look for them to talk to Emhoff is not saying that someone shouldn't vote for Harris. Harris is not responsible for her husband's behavior. And no one should be voting based on anything positive Doug Emhoff (or Melania Trump) has to say about their spouses. They may know their spouses better than anyone, but they are self-interested witnesses. It's not news that they love their spouses and publicly express that they're wonderful. It would only be newsworthy if they said otherwise.

Similarly, to the ridiculous hypothetical that was posed above, Dhani Harrison is not responsible for his father's behavior or his father's erstwhile bandmates' behavior. There is an obvious difference between that imaginary scenario and choosing to engage directly with someone who stands accused of exactly the kind of thing the band has taken principled stands on throughout its career.

In sum, two things can be true at the same time:

    1) Trump is unfit for office for many reasons, including that he stands credibly accused of sexual violence by numerous women and has, in fact, bragged about his ability to commit acts of sexual violence and get away with it; and

    2) Cozying up to someone who also stands accused of domestic violence looks hypocritical for people who have been outspoken against domestic violence in their lives and in their music.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Your points make no sense. You have no idea if he slapped a women, either do I and  I’m not going to take your word for it as you have no clue. He is not running for President to my understanding, his wife is. So that means the pj guys  can’t talk to someone who got a women pregnant? What’s your point? We know where the smoke is, it’s with the racist,  convicted rapist and felon from Florida. We know that is fact, no doubt about it. People are getting bent out of shape over the guys doing an interview with him. Half the people’s parents on here or 10 clubbers themselves have had affairs. So we can’t talk to any of them either? What don’t I care about?  You have no clue what I care about. I’ll tell you anyway, I  care about the truth , I care about democracy, I care about women rights, I care about my healthcare, I care about education, I care about my future, I care about this country and Trump is an embarrassment,  a felon and a liar. The fact he is even one of the candidates makes this country look like a joke cause that’s what he is. I agree with u on women’s safety and all that but don’t tell me I don’t care. You have no clue. I can’t wait till this mess is over but if Trump scams his way back into the White House it’s gunna 4 more years of chaos, fighting and lies. Look at all the hate and division he has caused. U honestly think this guy is the answer, serious question. Also, it’s Friday, time to drink.

You keep talking about Trump.  I am talking about the guy who admitted knocking up his kids’ nanny, is accused (happy?) of slapping a woman out of jealousy and forcing his way into the car after, and then has former colleagues (accuse) him of being a typical misogynist in the office.

So forgive me after hearing Ed talk about probably 45 minutes now at concerts on women’s rights since 2021 (which is awesome and I applaud the guy), to be a little curious to hear them give a pulpit to this man.

You think he is a good guy and don’t believe there is a poor pattern of behavior, while I think there is a pattern.  Maybe he is reformed, but a poor choice for a surrogate for PJ whose main campaign item is women’s rights.

I know nothing about this guy, why would I? Do you know everything about Mike Pence’s wife and her whole past? You have no idea of what you’re talking about is even true. Did you work with this guy and do you have a personal relationship with him? I’m confused. You’re a guy on a Pearl Jan fan board that has all this knowledge of something you read on the internet. I heard democrats caused the hurricanes in Florida too from the internet, do you have any inside info on that?  It’s a weird flex but it sounds like you know all about this guys past. Honest question, do you think someone that lied about an election and tried to steal votes and stop the peaceful transfer of power and is a convicted felon should be able to run for president of the United States, yes or no? Again, not trying to upset you or cause a fight as I’m sure you are a good person and good dude but what’s your thoughts?

Similarly, to the ridiculous hypothetical that was posed above, Dhani Harrison is not responsible for his father's behavior or his father's erstwhile bandmates' behavior.
And ridiculous is right. My point is how far down the line do you want to go? You go far enough, there’s always going to be bad stuff. Talking directly with someone? Ok, I get that. But everyone is up in arms about it while glossing over the other examples I gave.

No one candidate is ever going to align with all of my views on every subject.  But there is such a vast difference between the quality of the candidates I don’t even understand how it’s close.  Trump is such a simple, obvious, con man and it saddens me that this many people have fallen for his grift.  Do I agree with all of Kamala’s views, nope but it’s like if you had a choice to eat a cheeseburger or a pile of dog shit, and your like “but does the cheeseburger has pickles on it?”
Exactly. I find it weird, people don't consider this solely as a "vote in a dumb-as-a-rock fascism-loving lunatic" or "a normal standard person" election, but still just as a left to right election. Whatever your view on abortion, or taxes, or healthcare may be, couldn't that be put aside for four years and vote in a normal functioning human being and not a really-really dumb and self-absorbed piece of shit who knows nothing about anything and is like sprung out of a The Hills Have Eyes movie?

If the choices were republican Mitt Romney or a democratic "7-year old who hasn't even run a lemonade stand, with Bill Cosby as the VP pick" - would democrats not vote for Mitt Romney?

    It's bizarre.
