I love seeing people salivating at the prospect of Project 2025 say it has nothing to do with trump.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

Just like all the divisiveness was going to stop after the assassination attempt and he was going to be all about unity.Gern Blansten said:I think tRump's people were planting seeds that he was going to pivot and start sounding more like a serious candidate yesterday. This weekend we rock Portland0 -

That’s all he needs to do, but he can’t. All he has to do is focus on the economy and the border. He can’t refrain from attacking candidates personally. Part of it is the response from his crowds when he uses a nickname. But that’s who he is. I’m sure he’s getting advice to stay on this issues, he just can’t help himself.Gern Blansten said:I think tRump's people were planting seeds that he was going to pivot and start sounding more like a serious candidate yesterday. I was seeing things pop up on X about how his speech/conference was supposed to be more focused on policy, etc.
During his speech he even mentioned something like he was supposed to sound "more intellectual" or something to that effect and talk about the economy. That lasted about a minute before he launched into his usual bullshit.
I think a big shakeup is coming with his campaign. He's either not happy and is going to can someone or the campaign manager is sick of him not listening to him and will quit.
edit: oddly I just heard that tRump fired his campaign managers in August in both 2016 and 2020...lol0 -

That legit surprises me. I really kinda thought it was a good pick. He served in the military and legitimately pulled himself out of poverty. Before he became such a boot-licking toady, I had generally positive feelings about him. He's done admirable things and the bad things are so Trumpian that I remain surprised he's not the most-popular US-born Trump sycophant within the base.njhaley1 said:JD Vance is more unpopular than Sarah Palin: https://abcnews.go.com/538/tim-walz-popular-jd-vance/story?id=112841577

I can't say I know the background completely but it seems like he grew up in a pretty decent household. That might be due to his grandparents but I don't believe he was as poor as he tried to suggest.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I've never liked Trump. He went from an annoying celebrity to a political hero for the GOP and it made sense because he's always been a self absorbed narcissist.teskeinc said:

As for JD, didn't know about him much personally before he was named VP, but what I know now, what a moronic jackass. It tracks though, because like Trump, he changes his political affiliation based on whatever works to his advantage. It's easier to grift the GOP so they chose to be Republican. It's a hopeless situation...0 -
"Everyone" loved these guys? Nah.I'm quite literally old enough to remember the orange one's long-running feud with "Spy" magazine -- those were the folks who coined the phrase "short-fingered vulgarian." Nobody took that jackass seriously. His business dealings and disasters were infamous.JD Vance: Ah, yes. My well-meaning friends, who came from more affluent backgrounds than I did, kept pressing me to read that book "so I could understand what life was like for the poor and working-class people." I'd tell them I didn't need to read it because I had lived it, and they couldn't quite process that. "No no, he really tells it like it is!" My response: I've eaten squirrel, I know how it is, thanks. The Yale part -- I think I read an excerpt somewhere -- didn't ring true, either. He's all about the striving - just a hollow man trying to thrust himself forward. All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0

He was a hero to Democrats when he wrote the book. Just like everyone loved Trump until he ran for President and was a Democrat.OnWis97 said:
I suppose he could have been blatantly lying in his book (Hillbilly Elegy) but as far as I know, it was pretty legit.Gern Blansten said:
Are you sure he pulled himself out of poverty? I think he grew up in a fairly well off household.OnWis97 said:
That legit surprises me. I really kinda thought it was a good pick. He served in the military and legitimately pulled himself out of poverty. Before he became such a boot-licking toady, I had generally positive feelings about him. He's done admirable things and the bad things are so Trumpian that I remain surprised he's not the most-popular US-born Trump sycophant within the base.njhaley1 said:JD Vance is more unpopular than Sarah Palin: https://abcnews.go.com/538/tim-walz-popular-jd-vance/story?id=112841577
