Love it! They are so good and they tour nonstop. If you ever get a solo Patterson or Cooley show near you (particularly Cooley) don’t hesitate to go.

DBT is so good live. Love the “rock show!”  They are a great example of a band that just does what feels good and people can follow along or not. Once you see them live, they come across more as a full on rock, almost punk/DIY outfit than they do on the records.
Their concerts are LOUD. We saw them at the Vogue in Indianapolis a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how loud they were. Luckily we brought ear plugs just in case.
haha! i thought they were just right when I saw them Friday night.

great show, good crowd, decent enough venue (I had heard horror stories) and cheap beer (I only had one, but I’ll give them credit for that).

I had NO idea Patterson was such a funny and personable dude.

the kid playing bass was either real happy or real stoned. maybe both.

That’s Matt Patton. He is happy and beaming at every show. I first saw them in 2016 and that was my thought. This dude is beyond happy!

How was the SRO show? Setlist looks good. I’ve got tickets for the Atlanta show.

Patterson is a very funny guy. Cooley is funny too, but he’s much more quiet.

Thinking about getting a ticket to see Patterson’s solo show at the Georgia Theater in Athens this month. Would be a late ass night though and work starts back that week.

smiling dude was around in 2016? He looks like he’s about 18.

SRO was great. they sprinkled in 5-6? other songs throughout. I was hoping for RITFW as an encore but oh, well. I’m so old I knew exactly who Patterson was talking about when he mentioned the atlanta rhythm section, wet willie, etc.

Sounds great! I’ve seen them do RITFW before, it’s good. Even better is when they close with People Who Died.

Matt’s been in the band since 2012. I’d guess he’s in his late 40’s.

He does a great job on their cover of KKK Took My Baby Away. Since he joined, they’ve had a nice steady lineup for the last 5 albums. Drummer has been there since the beginning.

Jay Gonzalez is the man on keys and third guitar. He’s pretty awesome too. Right before him was Spooner Oldham, from the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (where Patterson’s dad played). Spooner also played on Harvest Moon and toured with Young and CSNY.

They also used to have Jason Isbell. Man, I love DBT, they’ve had and still do have a lot of talent. Underrated band in my opinion.

Matt Patton also sings The Unraveling and maybe one other song? His voice is perfect for those songs. Jay Gonzalez is great too, I enjoy his solo work as well. It is crazy that DBT's lineup changed almost every year for 15 years, and now it has been steady since 2012 or 13. I've only seen DBT since 2013 so this is the only lineup I am personally familiar with. I know DBT were awesome with isbell, but really I would like to have seen them after he left, when Shonna Tucker began to contribute more songs and vocals (and there also was the slide guitar which I think was also Spooner Oldham?). Shonna has a great voice.  The Austin City Limits CD is a damn perfect live album.

The Patterson and Cooley solo shows are definitely worth seeing but are not anything like a DBT show. Patterson will play more of his solo stuff and and talk a lot.  Cooley plays the songs in an odd way - not really the rhythm but more of the lead? Not sure how to describe it but it feels like there are a lot of empty spaces in the music when it is just him - he doesn't just strum along the whole way through.

I also think this band should be more widely known and appreciated. I can't wait for the SRO shows in October in New York.

I was at that ACL taping. It was a special afternoon indeed.  My first show was in early '03, so I've seen a lot of the turnover over the years.  The Isbell years are still my favorite but the current lineup would be a close second.

John Neff used to play the pedal steel guitar for them. He’s on the ACL show you are mentioning. That’s where the slide guitar sound comes from. Recently saw DBT play in Atlanta last fall I think. Neff plays with The Bad Ends, who opened the show. He came on for 3-4 songs and played his old pedal steel parts. It was super cool.

Thank you CarryTheZero for correcting me and thanks for sharing the video! Cool that DBT are on friendly terms with their former bandmates. Not many bands are.

Posting this here because I want to share and it seems that the Three Dimes Down forum is, well, down. I can see the page and log in, I just cant post there, and it looks like no one has posted at all there since October

This show was recorded from the front row immediately in front of a small audience-facing speaker on the stage floor. I guess that's what they call a Stack Tape. Essentially a soundboard-sounding tape. Here's an MP3 sample of Ronnie and Neil.

Drove home from the show and just got back (live an hour from Athens).

What a show! Setlist hit some deep stuff and finished with an epic World of Hurt, when Patterson looked at Cooley, like, what now? So he launched into Shut Up and Get on the Plane which turned into 3 more songs.

Band sounded great. But Cooley is just so good!

I wonder if Cooley will ever get the recognition he deserves. Truly an elite songwriter.
