Here’s my production. Within the next 4 weeks they announce a new candidate with Kamala still VP.
They’ll spend the next couple weeks deciding who it is and convincing Biden to drop out on his own and make it his decision.
Zero chance this happens. Biden was the safe bet to begin with. This is not a party that takes risks, even to save themselves.
Biden is no longer a safe bet.
Correct, but Dem establishment thinks he is. Hence, ZERO chance he drops out.

I suspect the Dem establishment is talking feverishly right now about whether there are any options.

I just don't think there really are any.

At that level, a certain amount of ego is present and self awareness is lost. Biden thinks he’s the guy. His inner circle thinks he’s the guy. Unless that inner circle drastically changes their stance, AND pressure him to step aside, he’s going nowhere.

It’s also a matter of credibility. For years the Dems have been beating the “Biden is cognitively fine”, and to just switch gears like that would plummet the trust in the party.

I think Brandon is cognitively fine, just old and slow with a speech impediment. Clearly he sucked last night and it was a poor performance but I don’t believe his decision making as it relates to pressing issues or who he’s surrounded himself with or what he cares about and prioritizes is an issue. The image as the doddering befuddled old guy? Yup.

Counter-argument, to continue with Biden and ignore what was on display, will equally plummet the trust in the party. There are no good options - just one is presumably marginally less bad than the other, and all of us with opinions on which option reigns supreme.

i don't think anybody could have done any better in that debate last night. put yourself in biden's position. you are trying to debate a man that:

    1. does not answer any questions. only goes back to the prior question.
    2. takes personal shots at you, your family/dead son/felon son, and the speaker of the house, which happens to be a good friend.
    3. spews a fountain of bullshit and lies so fast that you can't process it and fact check it in a reply as fast in your 1 minute rebuttal.

biden was awful last night, but he had substance and talked policy. trump did not. trump looked like a bully and an asshole. constantly inflating numbers of illegal immigrants, one time it was 15 million, another time he said 18 million, it was all bullshit. also the abortions done after birth? trump is just spouting bullshit. just like his tarriffs argument. he does not know how they work.

he said he didn't have sex with a porn star. motherfucker is guilty of covering up that story and is now a felon.

You could have done better. Any of us could have done better. The substance doesn't matter if you cannot communicate it to 50 million people.

Seriously, any other regular democrat would have absolutely destroyed Trump last night. He set Joe up perfectly on multiple subjects and Joe fucked up just about all of them. I kept thinking back to Newsome's performance against both Hannity and DeSantis. I am not a big fan of his, but imagine him on that stage last night instead of Biden. Come on.

That would be a smart move, especially leaving Kamala in as VP and not giving here the nomination to run for president.  She would not have a chance in hell of beating Trump (and I don't say that as a slam on her.  It's just the truth.)
They could just replace Kamala with a moderate Democrat not from that shithole California who isn't tied to progressives. She is useless and this is a direct slam on her. Then moderate swing voters would be more comfortable with sleepy Joe knowing a solid backup is right there to invoke the 25th since Biden is essentially incapacitated. They should do it now but they know Kamala sinks her party.

This election is all about the VPs.

There is 1 option. And it is essentially fool proof...except for the fact that former first lady Michelle Obama does not desire her own run at the White House.
