Artist canceling tours

CarryTheZero said:I looked on TM for Rolling Stones day of Atlanta show. $88 all in for a nosebleed, but good view and sound was not bad. Went ahead and did it. Happy to see them.
The lowest price I see is $136.00 and you can imagine where those seats are.
I kind-of-sort-of want to see them but as of right now I'm not up to going to a show with 50,000 and fighting the traffic too.
I'll see them next Tour?(IF they tour again? How many times has that been asked over the decades?=HA)0 -

I for one do not go to nearly as many shows as I used to. 30+ shows a year on average. Now i might do 10. Maybe 10.
175 a ticket for two then food and drinks, merch, is almost a $1000 night now.
Middle Kids = $40 per ticket
QOTSA = $ 80 per ticket
PJ is the only band I’ll go for over $ 100 but no more than $ 200 per ticket
I haven't seen any of these contests in years.0 -
It is kind of nice that there seems to be some pushback forming on concert ticket prices. I suppose if your ultra famous it makes little difference, but it does seem a fair number of acts are struggling to move tickets at today's elevated prices. Did TM and Bands push it to far with high face value and platinum tickets.
If you push people away from live music, it could be hard to reel them back in.
As a fan watching what's happened to the live concert industry over the past 5 to 10 years has been challenging.0 -
This article is pretty good. Starts to scratch the surface of what's going on but still mostly finger pointing.

This part is maybe kinda obvious but interesting to start seeing it in quotes.

I think ticket prices are reaching a breaking point too. You can't shell out 150-200 dollars per ticket and go see the same amount of concerts like when they were 50."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

100%. $700 for 2 shows at Fenway. My wife has basically told me that she'll pass this year and recoup the $350 (and likely even more with less drinks/food/etc). It's crazy.

The Black Keys have released mediocre music for over a decade, drag their asses through their shows, and are generally pricks.... couldn't have happened to a better band.

I saw them in 2012 in Portland (about 9000 seat arena) and it was perfect. Amazing show, crowd was loud. I never really got more into them after that. Wasn't a fan of much after El Camino0

I think this is the reset of the live music business.Too many managers/promoters and large ego musicians saw what Taylor Swift was able to do with the Eras Tour and thought they could pull it off. Problem is they ain’t Taylor Swift.
Here in the Twin Cities the club and theater venues seem to be able to fill the house with tickets in the $35-100 range. The arenas and stadium shows not so much.0 -
Isn't this one of the struggles of the modern era? With streaming and the internet, there's a lot more fragmentation in musical tastes and options.
Making it harder for artists to get to that arena/stadium tier. Now it seems it's mostly the odd newer artists that bucked the trend, or artists that got big during before all of this happened.
Still, I like seeing it. I feel I'm guilty that if I really want to go to a thing I'll go to the thing. But seeing that other people are starting to talk with their wallets, I think that's good for the fans.
