I think they opened for Pearl Jam at one of the of MSG shows in 2010.

They did, but I forget the year.
I confirmed it was 2010 at MSG, Band of Horses opened the other night at MSG that year.

I saw them in 2012 in Portland (about 9000 seat arena) and it was perfect. Amazing show, crowd was loud. I never really got more into them after that. Wasn't a fan of much after El Camino
I think this is the reset of the live music business.
Too many managers/promoters and large ego musicians saw what Taylor Swift was able to do with the Eras Tour and thought they could pull it off. Problem is they ain’t Taylor Swift.
Here in the Twin Cities the club and theater venues seem to be able to fill the house with tickets in the $35-100 range. The arenas and stadium shows not so much.
Isn't this one of the struggles of the modern era? With streaming and the internet, there's a lot more fragmentation in musical tastes and options.
Making it harder for artists to get to that arena/stadium tier. Now it seems it's mostly the odd newer artists that bucked the trend, or artists that got big during before all of this happened.
Still, I like seeing it. I feel I'm guilty that if I really want to go to a thing I'll go to the thing. But seeing that other people are starting to talk with their wallets, I think that's good for the fans.
I put a cap on my budget for concert $$ made an exception and spent 200 + for U2 at the Sphere but that was worth every single penny
U2 is understandable. I paid 350 for 2nd row to see David Byrne and it was worth every cent. Not too many artists I'm doing that for. In fact I'm not, lol.

Yes there are exceptions but there’s not too many bands I’d do that for!

If Talking Heads get back together I will pay to see them. My other bucket list was the Misfits and that box has been checked. Maybe, maybe the Eurythmics if they put on a good show.
It reminds me of capitalism as a system, lol. The artists thought they could keep just getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and/or more and more expensive, and it seems to have never occurred to them that the constant growth would ultimately end up being unsustainable and the whole system would start collapsing.

My son is going to this show tomorrow, and I wanted to check out how well it sold. Look at this odd seat manipulation. What do you think is going on here? Promoter/TM taking full rows and not selling them? All promo tickets for radio? Very odd to have full rows unsold alternate with full rows of unavailable tickets.
I was a bit surprised to see they booked arenas. They can sell out two nights in a row at brewery field here in the Twin Cities, maybe 3000-4000. But no way are they filling out Xcel Center in St Paul, 18000-20000. No way

It's a pretty common trick to give the illusion the building is fuller than it is, having staggered empty rows looks better from the stage than massive chunks of empty rows. whenever you see this, pretty safe bet tix sales are poor. Based on this particular map, looks like no illusion is going to make this look good! especially if the show is tomorrow.

they did't sell out the place down the street 2 years ago that's much smaller. makes no sense.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I just read that Philly wants to build a Venue that sits 5500-6000.
This looks like this band should be playing in Venues of that size?(Do you know if sales are like that everywhere?)
Maybe, but that show isn't until October. They could still sell pretty well.
I do feel like like most shows I've been looking at are not selling as fast as they used to... I'm thinking people are just holding back because inflation has been so bad lately - cost of living is skyrocketing, and concert goers are more reluctant to buy tix, at least way ahead of time. Then I think FOMO hits a lot of them close to the show in a lot of cases, lol.
