Not including the Beacon.

What are people's thoughts. Never mind which boot will be the best. What was the show that everything clicked: setlist, crowd energy, band energy, environment before and after the show.

For me, no question, Bonnaroo. Non festival date: Mansfield 2. Honorable mention: Columbia

Best songs: Hard to Imagine at Bonnaroo, Bee Girl at Mansfield 2. Honorable mention: Betterman (not my fave song) at Roo and Mansfield 1, Not for You at VA BEACH.

I'd say that the preliminary precincts have reported, and Hartford will go out on tops.

I warned you all on April 12, check my posts if you're a non-believer

The only people really capable of answering this question are those who went to every show. Without that, all people can do is look at setlists. How many times this tour did we hear the saying "eh, doesn't look like that great of a setlist" followed up by, "dude, you had to be there"

Zach (from the Spin thing) should chime in.

Zack said his favorite show was Hartford. He never really even said much about the MSG shows, I think he was disappointed with them.

Well, we're only talking about a little more than a dozen shows, right?
I only went to four of them, but I'm determined to get all the boots ... I have three already...once I get, and digest the rest...I'll get back to you with my opinion of which show was best ... what a difficult task, but I'll give it my best shot.
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!

agreed had an amazing experience that night it was a classic pj show for me anyways... Out of the 4 shows I attended I have got to say DC was the better show out of Hartford, DC and both Camdens.

Of the three shows I went to, I have to go with Hartford. MSG2 was great, but something about Hartford was (pardon the cliche) magical.

I went to five shows - NYC 1 & 2, Hartford, and both Mansfield shows. Of those five, the Hartford show was the best sounding, vibe from the crowd and band, and setlist for me. The people I met that we sat near were great as well. I do not think it is fair to rate the shows however, they were all just incredible in their own ways.

These debates are always interesting and since it's a message board, bound to happen. But the bottom line is that this is very subjective, you could have 2 people who traveled together to all of the shows, stayed together in hotels, etc, and even they wouldn't agree as to which show was the best, worst, etc. So these are exercises in futility :-)

That being said, the 2 I saw were the best ;-)

What Bee Girl has going for it is that it is rare. It is not a good song. Don't talk about Bee Girl being the highlight of the tour, especially when WMA and Who You Are returned.

Yep we have to endure all of the Mansfield, Camden, and MSG crap from the spoiled fans who don't leave the northeast to see shows so they disregard everything else.

    Hartford...it's not even close.
Canada, says Ament, holds a special place in the band's heart because of its international policies and its decision to stay out of the war in Iraq.

Since you went to the 5 shows I'm considering getting boots for, maybe you can help me narrow it down! Definitely getting MSG1/2 (since I was there) and Hartford. Am I missing out big time if I don't get either of the Mansfields and if I do get only one, would you suggest Mansfield 1 or 2?

    Thanks in advance!!

well the general view seems to be that Hartford is definitely a top show of the tour. Also the MSG shows and roo. personally i was at Hartford and both MSG . In the beginning of hartford I thought the crowd wasnt really delivering but the set was great and the crowd got a bit better. But if u want a even of crowd and set then MSG 2 is prob the best show.

I was at Roo, MSG 1 & 2; Roo was definitely my favourite, but had the advantage of a huge crowd and good festival vibe.
At MSG 1 I was surrounded by drunken baffoons who were spilling drinks and pushing around; it was a huge distraction that prevented me from really getting into the show. I'm anxiously awaiting the boot so I can hear the show without the distraction to get a better sense of it.
MSG 2 was awesome for me; just shy of Roo....

I agree: your personal experience at a show hugely affects how you perceive it; many times I've been at a concert (not just PJ) and kind of felt meh, but others there in a different location thought it was the best show of their life.....

    my choice would be Hartford.

There was just something about that show that made me come home and say that was the best Pearl Jam show I have ever seen. I have been to enough shows to know good from bad. I think my signature says enough that I am not just a pass by fan. I got to see a lot of songs that I have never seen before. Or songs that I have been lucky enough to see and to see again was incredible. God's Dice, Brain of J, LAST EXIT, In Hiding, Not For You. That first set was such an amazing thing to witness. 2nd Set. How could you go wrong when they pop out Atomic Dog. 3rd set.....
I thought it was classic and they were just rocking.

Note: Since this show I have been listening to VS and No Code pretty exclusively. I would also be putting in Yeild if I could find my copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved all 3 shows. They all were intense in some many different ways. The 1st encore for me was awesome. Mansfield I: I have never seen Reign o'er Me, nor Comeback. Betterman. I watched last night from youtube and I'd have to say that I was pretty honored to be part of that moment. I think it said a lot. Not only did we belt out the song to the band in their honor, we gave them a 1 minute ovation. It gave me chills all over again. And to be back at Great Woods was kinda nice.

Mansfield II WASH, MFC, Satan's Bed, Whipping, Glorified G, Education. All you people that piss on Bee Girl. Go fuck yourself. You are all jealous end of discussion.

The whole weekend felt like 1995 all over again. I do not know how else to describe it. Only that it was fun. I did some crazy things. I was safe. I was kind. I got to party like a rock star for 4 days. I would love to do again next Summer.
    Let's Go Red Sox!

Who the hell are you to say that Bee Girl is not a good song?

Put down the Kool-Aid. 95% of PJ's songs are awesome (an outside observer would think I'm drinking the Kool-Aid too). But compare Bee Girl with the Pearl Jam catalog. Does it stand out? I don't think so, and it would be a difficult argument to say that it does. It stands out live only because it is rare. I didn't hear ANYONE on here in their wishlist for the tour ask for Bee Girl. I heard the following: WMA, Who You Are, No Way, Breath, In My Tree, Rival, Pilate, All Night, Hold On, All Those Yesterdays, etc.... So to say that Bee Girl was a highlight of the tour (unless it was just personal), is crazy. We got All Night ,WMA, Who You Are, Red Mosquito...... If Who You Are had been played once than I bet the highlight mentioned would not be Bee Girl, but Who You Are. Instead, since Who You Are was not rare on the tour, it was not highlight worthy.

I also like the poster for hartford (lucky I got all posters for shows I went to but msg 2 I needed to trade fro). originally the purple made me not like it but when I keep looking at it in my room I just love it more and more and how the people I went with didn't give a shit about this poster cause they thought it was gonna be a quick average show. the experience taught me that if you can get a poster at the show get cause you never know when pearl jam will rip your face off with there awesomeness.

I'm sorry but I have to say DC!!! They played sooo many of my favorites and they sounded incredible. Just got the boot today, the version of light years is incredible. Who you are? Beautiful. Personally, it is the best PJ show I've been to out of seven by far and thats the main reason i feel its best

I enjoyed the Hartford show most of all, even though I missed almost half of it. The energy there was unreal.
