EDIT: O.K., now I know what you're referring to. The funny thing is that I watch the Super Bowl and the ads with my full attention, but I went to go pee as soon as I saw Beyonce and that it was a Verizon ad because: 1) I already have Verizon; and 2) I don't particularly care about Beyonce.
Having said that, this was a win-win for her because: 1) Verizon paid the $7 million for the ad; and 2) Verizon surely paid her to appear in the ad. If Pearl Jam put up $7 million for a Super Bowl ad, they would lose money on the album. And I'm not sure there's a sponsor out there that Pearl Jam would be willing to work with that would be the kind of company that would be shelling out for a Super Bowl ad.
