The "leak" outside the back door of the listening party is obviously band approved, right?

Really hope the final version of the album includes the vibrating metal fire guard sound.

    Why would it “come down”?

It’s not the tracks themselves. It’s a back alley through the door recording. I’m not sure

1- they think they could prevent this from spreading or

2 - would have any legal basis to issue a cease and desist

Many bands are pretty successful of taking anything down with their music, Even a solo video of a random guy covering them.
If you watch Rick Beat's videos, he always talks about it when he comes across a band and he's worried about his video being removed, he won't even play a cover version of the song he's talking about.
Now do I think they are going to scour the internet to find this bootleg recording? No. But I wouldn't have been surprised if they closed the thread on their own forum. I wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Yeah I'm bummed that Beato doesn't do the "What makes this song great" videos anymore. Those were so good but I think the copyright shit took him down.

That's fair. Closing the thread seems more likely.  I think they ultimately realize the futility of trying to keep this kind of thing at bay. As we all know in the age of socials, when it's out, it's out for good.  As it's not an official recording (which would be theft of property most likely), they prob realize there's little they can do. And then, they might well enjoy the build up it provides.  We don't. .....we just want the damn thing now!! haha.

    I'm on team genuine:

    It's a recording in public.

the snippets are short, seems intentional to avoid licensing issues.

Has too many other randomly posted live shows around LA to come across as a plant.

Is there anyone disputing that it's genuine?

I doubt it was intentional marketing, but I think having it out there increases the hype, and that is why they wouldn't be interested in taking it down.

The fact that it was recorded in a public place probably helps justify the video not being taken down. I also notice there aren't any ads running, so a demonetized video says the poster isn't making money off the work. Why the link hasn't been pulled from these boards is weird to me, especially since even an allusion to an existence of a leak is usually stomped.out.
  • Man! It’s times like this when I wish we didn’t have the internet. We really lose a lot of mystery of what things sound or look like to what often becomes click bait. I know leaks are going to happen but having a little mystery makes things a lot cooler and more enjoyable.

The band has always allowed bootlegs.  Only EV solo shows don't.  It has sparked discussion and probably increased website traffic quite a bit.  They know they have our full attention at the moment.

Pearl Jam didn't play the album live.

I don't think needs to be live to be considered bootlegged?  I can understand them pulling it if they did but I wouldn't expect it.

I do agree, but the little snippets have only amplified my excitement to hear each song in it's entirety.

Anything is possible.  Although I would say if it was a guerilla promotion its pretty brilliant.  But my money is on it being a genuine fan posting it if I had to bet.

I doubt they knew he was recording, but they did sign for him and snap some pics with him right after. Not saying that is a reason for it not being pulled, but it's hard to argue with a legal recording of something out in the ether. Had someone inside gotten crystal clear recordings, they would likely have shut that down ASAP with a C&D.

Referring to it being a genuine leak, vs guerilla marketing. Not the content itself.

What bootlegs have they openly allowed that isn't live tapings?
