They did one of those tours last September
Kind of.  It was still a bit Gigaton focused.  They referred to Austin 2 as the end of the Gigaton tour during that show.

I try not to over listen as I like to hear it as part of a greater whole. But it’s hard not to!

To each his or her own, to be sure. But your approach suggests you are not interested in what the band has to say anymore, which is your prerogative but also surprising since you belong to their fan club.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

This. I stayed up way later than I should have the night they released that song and I listened it it with headphones on, on repeat, for HOURS.

I’m always interested in what they have to say.  I actually like Ed’s stories and speeches at shows. I'm just more interested in hearing their older material live and every new album makes it harder to get that.

So are the people that don't like/complain about new music off of new albums the same ones that complain about Evenflo and Jeremy and go to the bathroom when they are played?  Are they only happy with middle career songs?

Are the ones that don't like/complain about new songs off of new albums the same ones that complained about Binaural and Riot Act songs in 2000 and 2003? (there were many people that complained/did not like the "new stuff" back then.as well.  Maybe even more so.)  If so, are they the same ones that now go ape sh!t if they play a Riot Act or Binaural song they have been "chasing"?

Just looking for the poll to have an option for all viewpoints, even presumably unpopular ones.

Try asking Siri to play Pearl Jam’s new song. Shocking what comes up. For me it was Black live version from MTV Unplugged. That is too fng funny.

Growing up listening to classic-rock radio, I noticed that they generally played songs from throughout the major artists' careers. (And they still do.) For example, they didn't just play songs from the Beatles' pre-Revolver era, or just play songs from Led Zeppelin's first four albums. The whole span of their careers are represented. The same goes for Pink Floyd, The Who, etc.

Listening to what passes for modern-rock radio today (which is mostly oldies with two or three "new" songs thrown in every hour), it's the exact opposite. You would think that all of big rock acts that came up in the early '90s were defunct like Nirvana by 1995 based on what still gets played (which is a reflection of what audiences want to hear). The only Pearl Jam songs that get played are from the first three albums. There are no Smashing Pumpkins songs post-Mellon Collie. And so on. As someone here noted recently, Pearl Jam will release a new single soon and, within a few weeks, it will disappear and radio stations will just go back to playing "Better Man." (I'm referencing radio here, which still has a massive audience despite what a lot of people think, but the point goes for other distribution channels as well. It will disappear from modern-rock streaming playlists, too.)

I bring this up because I see this manifested in the attitude a lot of people have when seeing these bands live. They're happy seeing a set that could have been played in 1995 even though it's 2024. For the third time, to each their own, but I just can't relate. I honestly don't ever need to see the big hits from the first three albums ever performed again. Even "Alive," a song I never thought I would tire of seeing performed live, has begun to feel very perfunctory.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Hey, man, I saw them play almost the whole thing with Dave Krusen in Fresno. The novelty of being one of the few people to see them play twice with Krusen (at the RRHOF and in Fresno) was exciting, but now there really is nothing for me to see with respect to that album unless they're going to do "Oceans" and "Release" with Krusen.

  • I imagine that first single might be at the top of this years Spotify Wrapped.
And the album will be the one most spun this year.
