Europe travel plans

With 2 shows in Europe already announced and more rumored how is everyone's travel plans shaping up?

I have booked for Nos Alive nights 1 and 3 for Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam and will be likely staying a few days either side as Lisbon is one of my favorite cities in the world.

Found some good deals on flights and am now just weighing up the best option for where to stay. I am currently torn between staying in a cabin at the campsite near the festival site or staying more central in Lisbon near the Bairro Alto. I expect the campsite will be full of PJ fans which will make for a great party but the Bairro Alto is also a great party district too and more central for getting around the rest of the city when I am not at the festival.

As a Brit I expect I will do all of the UK dates too if that rumor is true and will also be keeping an eye on some of the other European dates if work/finances allow.

I always tell myself "I don't need to go this time" or "maybe just the one show of this tour" and then still end up doing at least 2 shows of every tour. But then every time new shows get announced I find myself looking at flight and hotel costs and finding a way to justify the expense.

After both of the Europe shows outside the UK that I booked for in 2021 were cancelled as well as the postponement of one of the London 2018 I told myself that maybe I should cut back on the travelling for shows as if they do get cancelled it's a massive expense to be booking travel and accommodation for shows that don't happen. But with Lisbon being a festival at least I will get to see other bands if they have to cancel again.

I'm hoping to do Manchester, London X2 and Barcelona X2.

For Barcelona, I'll likely be travelling alone from the UK. If anybody wants to meet for a pint or two around the shows, please get in touch.

I will be very surprised if London is Hyde Park again as that would mean British Summertime Festival inviting back the same headliners twice in 3 years which would be unusual, especially for a festival with such a broad range of music. I suspect it will be the O2 arena as it was in 2019.

  • Tickets permitting 3 UK shows and either Berlin or Barcelona. Was going to do Dublin but don't fancy the venue.

What venue? We've had some good headliners at Marlay Park the last few years, but really anywhere in Dublin would do me.

Marlay Park is pretty concrete info, someone in another thread is on the committee for the venue.

Dublin, and then Barcelona/NOS Alive.  Spending about 8 nights in Ireland, and then will spend another 8 nights between Barcelona, Porto and Lisbon.

I’ve been at some great shows in Marlay. Trees all around, view of the hills- perfect, on a fine day.
Bus from the airport stops outside it.
