    Republicans called for a vote to oust a speaker.  That speaker broke deals with the democrats talked trash on national TV and press about them, couldn't keep his own party in line and was ineffective at his job and was proven untrustworthy.  Of course they would vote to remove him.  That isn't siding with MAGA, far from it.  Taking a stand to try to reach a middle ground is more like it.  But the GOP doesn't seem to want to meet in the middle anymore, more or less they want to yank things to the right and call it winning even though a majority of citizens don't share the views that the elected Rs are pushing for.  I disagree with your belief that leaving an untrustworthy backstabbing finger pointer at the helm of the house would have been better for the country.

    There’s little expectation that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) can be elected speaker on a third ballot, so the big question if he seeks one is whether he wins more or fewer votes than he did on Wednesday — and, if it’s fewer, how many Republicans who supported him in the first two rounds drop off.

    One notable Republican who won’t be backing Jordan: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), a moderate and the co-chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, one of House Republicans’ “five families.” Fitzpatrick voted for Jordan in both of the first two rounds even as several other moderates refused to do so, but he said Thursday afternoon that he’d switched his allegiance to Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.) after Jordan backed a plan to empower McHenry temporarily.

    “I’d be voting for McHenry today,” Fitzpatrick told reporters. “And if it comes to a vote, that’s who I’m backing.”

    There are few things Congress loves more than a short-term solution to a long-term problem — something to help it forestall difficult decisions and paper over divisions in hopes that, at some later date, these problems will magically disappear.

    House Republicans can’t even agree upon trying that right now.

    Thursday brought one of the most embarrassing episodes yet in the GOP’s arduous 16-day quest to find someone — anyone — who can get the votes to be House speaker. With the realization that that might not be possible at this juncture apparently setting in, Republicans set about forging a temporary fix that seemed potentially agreeable to much of the House: giving acting speaker pro tempore Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.) more power to conduct vital business while everyone figured out a longer-term solution.

    GOP speaker-nominee Jim Jordan even endorsed the plan, apparently believing that time could heal the wounds suffered by his sputtering speaker bid and give him another shot later on.

    Then the party summarily rejected Jordan’s leadership — again.

    Jordan announced Thursday afternoon that the plan was no longer in the works.

    “We made the pitch to members on the resolution, as a way to lower the temperature and get back to work,” Jordan said. “We decided that wasn’t where we’re going to go.”

    McCarthy broke his promise to Biden on the deal they cut.  Why would the D's support him?  McCarthy also blamed the D's for the clean bill that passed the House.  You expect the GOP to hold McCarthy accountable, but not the D's?  This can't be your argument.

    Despite other peoples beliefs around here talking down to people and brow beating them has never changed a single mind.  Unfortunately I have been just as guilty of it as others in the past and am only recently trying to work on it.  Don't worry all I have to do is say I think Hillary was a terrible candidate and Russia had nothing to do with her not being elected and I will be way more unpopular than you are currently.
