    Caught the second half of Fanny: the right to rock
    Was about an all female band from the 70’s
    pretty interesting, will have to watch the first half

    lots of these docs lately seem to be a bid for the hall of fame

    My wife played this for me. Now, I am a major Fanny fan. I really don't know how this band flew under my radar, as I am an obsessive music dork.

    Amazing! Keeping on the bluegrass theme - Michael Cleveland was born blind with severe medical conditions, and has become an awe-inspiring fiddle player. This documentary about him is called Flamekeepers. These players can show a thing or two to rock and roll ‘virtuosos’ about speed and precision.

    That's a great one. It is 4 hours long but it doesn't feel like 4 hours. My favourite part is when George Harrison talks about how great it was recording with The Traveling Wilburys, and how it was much better than "the other band".

    Also if anyone likes that one then Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party. It was directed by Cameron Crowe when he was like 25 and he also follows the band around and does a bunch of interviews. At the beginning he even mentions that he has been a music journalist for 10 years at that point. So it is kind of like a real life sequel to Almost Famous.
