Xavier Nady stunk, a completely replaceable player; certainly barely a piece for the Giants that I wouldn't think of him when I thought 'GIants championship players'. He was a journeyman, borderline AAAA guy. Definitely not a comparable guy to Hunter Pence.

Nady didn't play in the WS. They're not that much different him and Pence. Nady was just injured a lot.

Wait what - you're saying they're similar? I'd like to know how.

Stats wise. They were both decent players. Only problem is Nady had injuries. Also Hunter had double the plate appearances. Pence might be better overall. But it not by a lot

Never really given those teams much thought, but just broadly thinking about it - for a team that won 3 titles in 5 seasons is there anyone on there that are no-dount hall of famers? I guess Posey, maybe, sorta? Outside of that, they're probably the most bizarre "dynasty" I can think of. Each roster seems completely unrelated to the other two that won.
Other notables were Lincecum, Madbaum, Zito, Nady and Pablo Sandoval?  Fan favorite Hunter Pence too but nobody that is a sure fire HOFer.
    nady?

you know I love my giants but Posey is the only possible HOFer…different guys stepped up in each of the title years….3 different closers…journeymen like cody ross, marco scutaro, aubrey (asshat) huff, hunter pence, michael morse, andres torres, freddy sanchez, etc. came up big….GW pitchers changed from year to year (cain, lincecum, madbum, voglesong)….jeremy affeldt was huge….crawford, panda, belt and posey were together for most of it.

it flies in the face of the superteam mentality.
Xavier Nady was a highly touted Draft Pick that was good enough to be in the league for a while like Pence , but never great.
didn’t even know he was a Giant…I must have missed his 19 games.

    Kelenic keeps hitting!

I just don't know about Soto.  He always starts slow but last year he wasn't good, even on a loaded SD team.  This year he's no better.

A glaring omission from the Hall of Fame.

He's also the most unhittable pitcher on the MLB The Show video game.

SAN DIEGO — Today, the San Diego Padres announced they will be wearing their Pacific Coast League uniforms on April 17 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Johnny Ritchey breaking the professional baseball color barrier on the West Coast, as well as what would have been his 100th birthday year.

nice gesture and all but looks like it would be something the marlins would wea.

I think he got tongue tied, but definitely sounded like it to me. I played the video of it and my wife overheard it. She asked if she heard it correctly and was flabbergasted when I told her he said it on air for a baseball broadcast.

Between that and Bob Huggins, what the hell are people thinking this week?

Super tough start for the Astros, which I know makes a lot of people happy. Offense is struggling....the injuries are brutal. Glad that Brantley, McCormick & Altuve will be back soon & fingers crossed on McCullers. Losing Urquidy & Garcia stings a lot. It's safe to say that they'll be looking for SP help at the deadline. I know it's a long season, but damn.

Kinda weird the Braves are 10-8 at home and 15-3 on the road. You would think it would be the opposite.

So far the home schedule has been more difficult. Swept the Cardinals, Royals, and Marlins on the road...not exactly the toughest competition in the league there.

so you think Atlanta isn't as good as their record indicates? I know they lost possibly their best pitcher in Fried for a few months so that sucks for them.

No, I think they're a good team. I just think the quality of competition explains that difference. They've won the east the last few years with a lot of the core players on this team. I expect them to be a playoff team again and that the home/road splits will even out eventually. Pitching is definitely a concern now with Fried and Kyle Wright on the DL. Gonna have to rely on Strider, Morton, and a few guys still trying to prove themselves. I like what I'm seeing from Elder, but I wonder how long he can pitch this well? I hope Soroka can get back, but not holding my breath on that.
