Is the second encore gone for good?

The second encore has been regularly part of the PJ experience since 1998. With the 2022 shows in the shadow of covid and possibly the spectre of age entering, the band dialed back.
With that said, now that covid has died down and the guys have played the first tour of gigaton, do you think we'll continue to see 20-25 song show or will they stretch out a bit more and bring back the second encore and 25-30 songs (maybe a shorter second encore compared to 2013-2018)? Curious about your thoughts.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

I hope not but sadly think it is.
Funny enough it really is the first encore that got eliminated. The traditional second encore took its spot making the ending to the show even more predictable than in the past.0 -
I think it’s gone. And the encore during the last tour was the biggest disappointment for me., except for Camden.0

Gone

Yes. My hypothesis is that it’s to save Ed’s voice. He’s no spring chicken anymore.0

Ed's voice, Mike's arms, Matt's arms and legs. I think this is what they've decided to do to minimize the wear and tear.

I wish it wasn't, but I fear it is...but you never can tell with the band. I think their age has caught up.
I think they should play a song for every ten bucks a pair of tickets cost0 -
Sadly probably for arena shows. If they do stadiums again in the future it might come back.
Unfortunately you can safely head towards the tunnels when alive hits and just hang in the tunnel. See if they close with ritfw/yb/indifference and hit the road. Maybe it will change this round0 -

turning into the stones...at least they still change the setlist. be thankful for that.0

I believe it's gone. We were so spoiled since that 2003 tour. I'm thankful they're still making music and touring periodically.

Lot's of surprises were tucked into that 2nd encore.0

Anything’s possible. They clearly approached last year really cautiously, hopefully if they can have these 9 shows with no band members sick or with voices blown out, they’ll get some confidence to stretch out over time.I think the thing which made last year’s setlists slightly dissatisfying was the combination of 22-24 songs + so many from Ten. When there’s 30 songs, playing all the hits every night doesn’t feel like a big deal. When the most obscure track in a show is Garden, that chafes a bit.0

I always enjoyed the slowed down first encore, which usually started with just Ed doing a song with an acoustic guitar or the band sitting at the beginning of the encore.. sadly, probably just a fond memory now..."The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera." - Yusuf Karsh

I’m the same age as these guys and sometimes even when the mind is willing the body just doesn’t want to hear it. I’m just thrilled they’re still doing something. Leaving PJ20 we thought we’d never see them again. We promised ourselves that we would just try to see them as much as possible because someday it will end. So 1 encore, no encore, we’ll keep going.0
