People buying water by the gross. It's really shocking African-Americans would panic buy water in this country. The people of Flint & Jackson never had any trouble at all. Cripes, we are basically a 3rd world country.Cliffy6745 said:I don’t know about you, but I have COMPLETE confidence in our officials to get this right…especially considering they told people not to buy water after they told everyone to buy water and there was no water left to buySpectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Right and agreed, but not sure I’d call it panic buying when the city gave everyone direction to stop drinking tap water like 2 hours laterJohnny Abruzzo said:

Lol basically what we were saying - they definitely just decided it's better to tell everyone to stock up on their poison water because it's safer than everyone killing each other in the streets over a 20 oz Poland Springs.Cliffy6745 said:I don’t know about you, but I have COMPLETE confidence in our officials to get this right…especially considering they told people not to buy water after they told everyone to buy water and there was no water left to buy0

We already had about 10 gallon jugs from a trip we tool last year and a few other things but I'm sure the shelves emptied by us as well.

I think I saw Cherry Hill Wegmans was out. We were on our way back from Baltimore shortly after we heard the news, so stopped on the way back in Delaware0

haha, exactly. Confidence inspiring, for sure! I wish I got a chance to watch more of the local news yesterday. Am sure there was some gold in there.Jearlpam0925 said:

Yeah, panic buying isn't the right term. Let's just start a company and then you can just dump shit into water, yay America.Cliffy6745 said:

Finally figured out this morning Delco water doesn't come from the Delaware River. Info to pass on. The most important part about all of this is - fuck Bristol, and Bucks County frankly, to the greatest degree.

Bottled water is generally a massive scam (especially the Pepsi/Coke "purified" water which is literally the city's tap water) that gets propped up by these kinds of events. For our intents & purposes all that plastic will never go away.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Hot tip: whatever you've got in your portfolio/401k/IRA/what-have-you, put some water ETFs and water storage tech in there. My general view is Capitalism is a scam but you have to play the game, so have water reserves in there (the $ kind) when the world goes to absolute shit. At least make some money when we're fighting for whatever's left.
Anyway, from everything I'm reading, this is all very low level concern. I'll take the next couple days to drink non-tap but then back I'll go. 8k gallons in a river of millions (billions?) of gallons of water is very small.
But with even that said - I would like to see the chemical company hung up by their buster browns.

And yes, agreed that it seems like a low level of concern, BUT, it also seems like something that they told the 6th biggest city in the United States to stop drinking the water.0
