pureoc wrote:Yeah Spitz, Liam was pretty unique with the background guitars playing through the speakers while he was drumming, can't say I've seen anything like that before. My highlight was probably Wishlist, one of my fav songs, also liked hearing Won't Back Down and him mentioning the 2 nights from 06, which were hands down the 2 best concerts (as far as an opener and headliner go) I've ever been to.
I've seen people use the peddles for recording and looping their parts before (Happy Chichester...who is great by the way...does this). It's a pretty cool effect...however, like Liam, I find that when someone has a cool toy like that, they tend to overuse it...as I think Liam did.
All in all, Liam put on a great set, but it would be a little bit better with less of the looping.hippiemom = goodness0 -

It might be tougher to look past the visual of the stay puft marshmallow man getting dragged out, but the good memories will sustain.
+1
I've had time to get over the obnoxious yellers. I looked so forward to the show and the negatives are going away. I liked EVs push ups and little jap at the south (I'm from Texas). Can't beileve the show has come and gone. While I should drive down to Chicago, Milw is all for me.92- Austin

Pearl Jam_ie wrote:Despite what everyone is saying, the show still rocked. After Arc, Ed still shook hands w/ about everyone in the front which I thought was a very noble thing to do. Wasn't sure what all the hype about Arc was until I saw it for myself...Holy Shit!! It was unbelievable!! Between the first and second set, the lab coats and the "thing" that was sweeping the stage were fucking hilarious! Yeah the loudmouths were annoying, but it was like 5 out of 2500 people. During the second set they were done with and it was a great set!
See I disagree here...heard the hype for Arc...saw it done...it was my least favorite part of the show...well, except for the drunks idiots but that goes without saying.hippiemom = goodness0 -

I just thought Ed was super and hearing it live gave me a chill too! It was a much longer and more intense version than the studio track. It's cool when someone can do that with just their voice! One positive about Ed being annoyed is that it almost seemed like he took out some of his frustration on his guitar during Hard Sun. The windmills ala Pete Townsend were fucking sweeet!!"In certain trying circumstances...profanity furnishes a relief denied even to prayer." - Mark Twain0 -
Now THIS is a fanview thread. Thanks for staying positive! We're all different behind the eyes.
You are U, who you are.0 -
Hot damn, i missed the thread when u started it from the other one. SO GLAD we can be positive now! :P I worked till 3am last night, or I woulda shared my thoughts sooner - tho I think most of the highlights have been covered.
For me, SOCIETY was a HUGE pleaser. I Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this song...I think it may be my song of the week, lol.
So yeah highlights were my 6th row 10c seats. ARC, Society, Porch, - ok they are all good so...
Also ed's mini looking fender guitar (was this a converted mando) -? I dunno what it would be called, but I really loved it when he pulled that out - I have never seen anything like it. Bad Ass.
Liam Finn - who as my fiance' put it "OMG this is my new fav. artist" I just LOVE it when that happens! I was really into his music. I have a feeling I am not going to make it in time to see him and ej tonight (stupid chicago traffic and construction). But I love it when an artist can loop right. And he knows what he is doing and does so very creatively...some artist just go overboard or are not creative w/ the loops.
Anyways can't wait for tonights show!| valerie |

Just wanted to say that the show was 100 times better than the other thread is making it out to be. So glad this thread running. Ed was freaking great!!! Playing Throw Your Arms Around Me was more than I could have ever hoped for. That concert was a second anniversary gift for my wife and myself and that song means alot too me. Just want to again thank ED for the great show."I change by not changing at all"0

Thanks....I'm be there with ya in spirit!I could probably skip out of here Friday by 2:00, but that would lead me through crazy traffic and tryin to find the place, etc...its always worth it in the end, but its not appealling right now.
Enjoy!0 -
I, too, am glad that this thread was started. From all the other posts, it seemed like all anyone wanted to talk about was the bad aspects of the gig, which there were, but that isn't what I took away from the night. The music is what I will remember, and we were treated to an incredible setlist. Also, I feel the tension with the audience fueled Ed on some tracks (Porch, I Am Mine, Won't Back Down, etc...) so that they were very fiery versions. Glad people are finally talking about the great aspects of the gig. I've written a review, would love it if some of you checked it out if you have the time. Cheers!

Thanks for all the kind words, and for taking the time to read the review. Not a "professional," just a music lover. It's time we take this show back from all the negatives things being said about it, and focus on what we liked about the show.0 -
u should submit that write up to jambase.com - they post reviews.| valerie |

Agreed...I've asked Kat and Sea to Sticky this, so it can stay up and all the negatives threads can float south. There isn't a setlist sticky showing up, so I'm hoping they decide this will do instead... We'll see0 -
I am explaining my experience at the concert in one short sentence....
It was like I had died and gone to heaven.
It was everything I had read about the other shows and MORE. My daughter and I have gone to several Pearl Jam shows together and that alone makes these concerts wonderful. I thank Pearl Jam and music in general for giving us something in common that we both love - it just makes these experiences more special.
Thanks to Eddie for doing this solo experiment. Thanks to Pearl Jam for continuing to make music and tour.some words when spoken can't be taken back

I thought the setlist in Milwaukee was massive and I got to see a lot of songs I'd been wanting to hear live for years - Throw Your Arms Around Me, Forever Young, Here's to the State.
And I got to see some PJ friends I hadn't seen in a long time (far too long).
So, yay Milwaukee!"What happens when so many people agree on something? Can we take this beyond the parking lot when we leave tonight?" -EV, Iconoclasts0 -
I loved the show....getting to see the best singer/songwriter of this generation in such an intimate setting was an unforgettable experience.
My wife really loved the show. She said it was all her favorite parts of a pearl jam concert (the slower stuff and ed talking) in one show. Also, it took her a long time to warm up to pearl jam's music after I met her, but the one song that got her hooked was a version of Throw Your Arms Around Me. When Liam and Ed played it, she got super excited, sang the whole thing, and at the end let out the loudest WOOOOOO I have ever heard.
Usually when we go to a pj show I think her enjoyment of the show is enhanced by my happiness of seeing the band, but for this show I would say my enjoyment of the show was enhanced by the happiness she had for the show. That is not to say I didn't love the show because I did.....I just like to jump and scream a little more(I did rock out to Hard Sun, though.)
Also, this was our first trip to Milwaukee, and I want to say that we met a lot of super nice and friendly people all over. So much that we have considered moving there after we finish our teaching internships. And, that the people yelling crap at the show were probably from Minnesota
The highlights for me were Liam's set especially the last song; it was crazy, awesome, weird, just wow; ARC; Blackbird; Elderly Woman; Throw Your Arms Around Me; Gone;.....ahh hell, the whole night was one big highlight of my life!!!
Here's to an awesome show; I hope he does this again.
P.S. We need the boots of these shows!!!!"...what a different life had i not found this love with you..."0
