Yeah Spitz, Liam was pretty unique with the background guitars playing through the speakers while he was drumming, can't say I've seen anything like that before. My highlight was probably Wishlist, one of my fav songs, also liked hearing Won't Back Down and him mentioning the 2 nights from 06, which were hands down the 2 best concerts (as far as an opener and headliner go) I've ever been to.

I know...but we need to stay positive! It was a GREAT show overall. I was smilin 99% of the time.

Hope the Vedder man is smilin right now with family and friends and anything negative from last night is a past memory! :)

Have to say it though...go Brewers! :)

It was really a great show. We got 5th row, left center section, seats 1 & 2 which were dead center. THANKS 10C!! Couldn't have asked for better seats. At one point after a few Lukin screams Eddie said "I believe it says my name out front". He dedicated Deadman to the Lukin shouter. He also was joking around about southerners and said "I've been there a couple times". He went on talking about the south with a silly grin on his face....and now I totally believe they haven't played there totally because of Bush. Before Gone, he said this song was written when gas was under $1.50 a gallon, which wasn't that long ago. He introduced Driftin' as a song about being young and alone.

The sing-a-longs were great with the house lights coming on. Throw your arms was one I really wanted to hear and he and Liam did a great job together with it. He encouraged everyone to stand and sing for No More...it took awhile for people to stand up. Arc was incredible and went on longer than I expected. Heard this in Council Bluffs in '03 but seeing it a little closer and seeing the emotion he put into it was nice. After which he came out to the front of the stage and went back and forth shaking hands....for whatever reason I stayed back at our seats but my wife was up there and she was pretty jazzed about shaking his hand. Hard Sun was incredible and intense....maybe because he was pissed?!?

All-in-all it was an amazing show. I think people are blowing all the nagatives out of proportion. Yeah, the guy from Chicago getting kicked out was distracting and the guy yelling 'play Lukin" was anoying....but really after the Chicagoan was dragged out I really didn't notice too much yelling....more people were walking down to the front to take pictures which started getting annoying. Security didn't do anything unless they stayed and kept taking more...so much for no flashes.

Don't buy into all the hype with all the negative threads. This was a great show. And Liam kicked ass, glad we got in to see him.

Excellent pre-party Patrick! Although someone (brainofT?!?) had their 'Play Alpine' shirt stolen at Mo's. That's pretty low.
    Like a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste

My Milwaukee videos were quickly yanked by YouTube after just a few hours this morning (I guess that was a no, no. Sorry 10c) but I do have a few so-so photos from The Riverside. Hopefully those are ok to post...

I'm so happy to read a positive thread about the show finally. Not that I disagree with the complaints but it was bumming me out.
it was such a great night for me and I want to remember it for the good things about it. And there was sooo much that WAS good.

Lots of positives about last nights show. Blackbird was really beautiful. ARC was incredible. I also have a soft spot for Broken Hearted, so I was thrilled to hear that. This was my first Ed solo show, and it exceeded my expectations which were high to begin with. Being 15th row center didn't hurt either.

Yeah, there were obviously some low points, but those didn't ruin the show for me or my friend. It just means that it could've been even better without them. Keeping with the positive vibe of this thread, I hope all of us attending the next 2 shows try to make things even better.

while the drunks were annoying...right across the aisle from me (i was 4th row center)...the setlist was awesome...i really couldn't have asked for anything more...the highlights had to be:

    1) liam was awesome
    2) girl from the north country
    3) GONE!
    4) blackbird
    5) millworker - one of my favorite covers
    6) throw your arms around me with liam - absolutely beautiful
    7) rise
    8) eddie's stories - how can that not be a positive
    9) won't back down...
    10) seeing eddie walk into the theater before the show...and shaking his hand during the show...

all in all...such a great show...great mix of songs between itw, covers, and originals...

  • Despite what everyone is saying, the show still rocked. After Arc, Ed still shook hands w/ about everyone in the front which I thought was a very noble thing to do. Wasn't sure what all the hype about Arc was until I saw it for myself...Holy Shit!! It was unbelievable!! Between the first and second set, the lab coats and the "thing" that was sweeping the stage were fucking hilarious! Yeah the loudmouths were annoying, but it was like 5 out of 2500 people. During the second set they were done with and it was a great set!

Glad you enjoyed the show. It's amazing how this board has blown the Milwaukee show out of proportion.

At least no one got urinated on by the person behind them.

I'm glad to hear someone else here believes this is all getting blown way out of proportion.

I've been to a few solo acoustic shows and this one wasn't really too different than any of the others. Sure a few drunken idiots were there, but I challenge you to find any concert without a few drunken idiots.

Here's what I enjoyed the most

    1. Sitting 12th row center, perfect view of Ed.
    2. Opening with sometimes, great way to start the show
    3. Hearing DRIFTIN, one of my favorite songs, so glad he played it here.
    4. Hearing Into the Wild songs live
    5. Arc and Hard Sun were great finishers. I got goosebumps during Arc.

Most everyone already covered just about everything else.

Hopefully this doesn't affect Ed's view of MILW as a whole and hopefully he does come back around next time.

For future tours, if he is so adamant about people being quiet, I honestly think that pamphlets should be handed out at the door with a few tips to make it a better concert experience. Most people have never been to a show like this before and most people don't understand the etiquette involved. Add to the fact that Pearl Jam shows are the exact opposite of what Eddie is doing with this tour and its easy to understand why people don't know how to act at this type of a show.

All in all one of the best concerts I have ever seen and no drunk idiots were able to take that away from me.
  • After already posting a negative thread, I do have to say - the show ROCKED! The setlist was awesome and we did get to see Ed's humor come out. I have never had better seats in my life and totally appreciate the tenclub! THank you thank you thank you to all the years of great music and the amazing music the other night. I am also on board for LIam now as well. Was really looking forward to hearing him and wasn't let down. Thanks to all the "Good" fans in Milwaukee and for Ed for coming to see us.

I was at DC1 which is also notorious for neanderthols, and I can tell you that the next day I was pissed off at the simpletons yelling stuff, but with each passing day I remember less of that and the music and Eddie's banter is what is really sticking with me. That is good.

It might be tougher to look past the visual of the stay puft marshmallow man getting dragged out, but the good memories will sustain.

I've seen people use the peddles for recording and looping their parts before (Happy Chichester...who is great by the way...does this). It's a pretty cool effect...however, like Liam, I find that when someone has a cool toy like that, they tend to overuse it...as I think Liam did.

All in all, Liam put on a great set, but it would be a little bit better with less of the looping.

    +1

I've had time to get over the obnoxious yellers. I looked so forward to the show and the negatives are going away. I liked EVs push ups and little jap at the south (I'm from Texas). Can't beileve the show has come and gone. While I should drive down to Chicago, Milw is all for me.

I just thought Ed was super and hearing it live gave me a chill too! It was a much longer and more intense version than the studio track. It's cool when someone can do that with just their voice! One positive about Ed being annoyed is that it almost seemed like he took out some of his frustration on his guitar during Hard Sun. The windmills ala Pete Townsend were fucking sweeet!!

Hot damn, i missed the thread when u started it from the other one. SO GLAD we can be positive now! :P I worked till 3am last night, or I woulda shared my thoughts sooner - tho I think most of the highlights have been covered.

For me, SOCIETY was a HUGE pleaser. I Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this song...I think it may be my song of the week, lol.

So yeah highlights were my 6th row 10c seats. ARC, Society, Porch, - ok they are all good so...

Also ed's mini looking fender guitar (was this a converted mando) -? I dunno what it would be called, but I really loved it when he pulled that out - I have never seen anything like it. Bad Ass.

Liam Finn - who as my fiance' put it "OMG this is my new fav. artist" I just LOVE it when that happens! I was really into his music. I have a feeling I am not going to make it in time to see him and ej tonight (stupid chicago traffic and construction). But I love it when an artist can loop right. And he knows what he is doing and does so very creatively...some artist just go overboard or are not creative w/ the loops.

Anyways can't wait for tonights show! :)

Just wanted to say that the show was 100 times better than the other thread is making it out to be. So glad this thread running. Ed was freaking great!!! Playing Throw Your Arms Around Me was more than I could have ever hoped for. That concert was a second anniversary gift for my wife and myself and that song means alot too me. Just want to again thank ED for the great show.
