I, too, am glad that this thread was started. From all the other posts, it seemed like all anyone wanted to talk about was the bad aspects of the gig, which there were, but that isn't what I took away from the night. The music is what I will remember, and we were treated to an incredible setlist. Also, I feel the tension with the audience fueled Ed on some tracks (Porch, I Am Mine, Won't Back Down, etc...) so that they were very fiery versions. Glad people are finally talking about the great aspects of the gig. I've written a review, would love it if some of you checked it out if you have the time. Cheers!

Bravo! Excellent review...so much better than many from "professional" journalists! Or are you one...
Love your description of the sense of both aggitation, motivation, and enjoyment that I sensed also from Ed...
Thanks for all the kind words, and for taking the time to read the review. Not a "professional," just a music lover. It's time we take this show back from all the negatives things being said about it, and focus on what we liked about the show.

Agreed...I've asked Kat and Sea to Sticky this, so it can stay up and all the negatives threads can float south. There isn't a setlist sticky showing up, so I'm hoping they decide this will do instead... We'll see
I am explaining my experience at the concert in one short sentence....
It was like I had died and gone to heaven.
It was everything I had read about the other shows and MORE. My daughter and I have gone to several Pearl Jam shows together and that alone makes these concerts wonderful. I thank Pearl Jam and music in general for giving us something in common that we both love - it just makes these experiences more special.
Thanks to Eddie for doing this solo experiment. Thanks to Pearl Jam for continuing to make music and tour.

I thought the setlist in Milwaukee was massive and I got to see a lot of songs I'd been wanting to hear live for years - Throw Your Arms Around Me, Forever Young, Here's to the State.
And I got to see some PJ friends I hadn't seen in a long time (far too long).
So, yay Milwaukee!

I loved the show....getting to see the best singer/songwriter of this generation in such an intimate setting was an unforgettable experience.
My wife really loved the show. She said it was all her favorite parts of a pearl jam concert (the slower stuff and ed talking) in one show. Also, it took her a long time to warm up to pearl jam's music after I met her, but the one song that got her hooked was a version of Throw Your Arms Around Me. When Liam and Ed played it, she got super excited, sang the whole thing, and at the end let out the loudest WOOOOOO I have ever heard.
Usually when we go to a pj show I think her enjoyment of the show is enhanced by my happiness of seeing the band, but for this show I would say my enjoyment of the show was enhanced by the happiness she had for the show. That is not to say I didn't love the show because I did.....I just like to jump and scream a little more (I did rock out to Hard Sun, though.)
Also, this was our first trip to Milwaukee, and I want to say that we met a lot of super nice and friendly people all over. So much that we have considered moving there after we finish our teaching internships. And, that the people yelling crap at the show were probably from Minnesota
The highlights for me were Liam's set especially the last song; it was crazy, awesome, weird, just wow; ARC; Blackbird; Elderly Woman; Throw Your Arms Around Me; Gone;.....ahh hell, the whole night was one big highlight of my life!!!
Here's to an awesome show; I hope he does this again.
P.S. We need the boots of these shows!!!!

GREAT SHOW!!! To start: The pre-party rocked and we raised a bunch of loot for a great cause! Went for a stroll and jjstarr and I waited outside the venue around back with about 25 others to try and meet Ed. After an hour and half for us (about 3 for some) Ed's bus pulled up at the other end of the alley and he signed and talked for a few minutes. But by the time he walked down toward us he stopped on the loading ramp a few feet away and said "sorry guys, I gotta get to work" and headed in. Unfortunately the people that waited the longest didn't get the reward, but oh well. It was cool to see Ed that close and have him address us.
The show was incredible even with the few idiots. I am now a huge fan of Liam Finn and EJ and what they can do on stage. They blew me away. Got my posters and had time to take them back to Mo's (Irish Pub). Sometimes was a nice treat for an opener and it was really cool to hear Blackbird. Arc was totally nuts and Hard Sun was all it has ever been hyped to be. The setlist was definately unique and Gone was a big surprise.
After the show I guess Ed just ran to the bus and was sitting on it til about 1:30ish when Liam and EJ came out to get on. I ran over and shook Liams hand and patted EJ on the back and said thanks for an awesome show. People were waiting for Ed but had no idea he was already on the bus.
Super show! Great to meet everyone (patrickredeyes, faithful2you + wife, kingmidget, and the countless others)

The show was one of the best concerts I've been to (including 10+ other pj shows). My wife, who isn't the biggest fan, also said that it was best show she has EVER been to (her and I both didn't expect that to happen ;-) )
I was 4th row center with pjfan9110, and hearing Ed solo was amazing. His voice was really showcased with just him and a guitar. As others have mentioned, he is pretty funny and tells great stories.
One very small thing that I liked was when he was going to play a softer song in the beginning (forget which one now) and had his distortion petal switched on. He kind of looked confused for a second or two and looked at audience: "oh that's distortion.. dont want that" .... *laughs*.. "we'll save that for later". It was fun to listen to all his stories and see his little quirks during the show.
Looking back on it.. I would have easily forked over $200+ for the show if I had to. Thanks Ed.
Setlist:Sometimes, Trouble, Girl From the North Country, I Am Mine, Deadman, Man of the Hour, Setting Forth, No Ceiling, Guaranteed, Far Behind, Elderly Woman, Millworker, Soon Forget, Broken-Hearted, Gone, Rise, Driftin, You've got to hide your love away, Porch
1st Encore:Here's To the State, Blackbird, Forever Young, I Won't Back Down, Wishlist, Society w/ Liam, Throw Your Arms Around Me w/ Liam, No More, Arc
2nd Encore: Hard Sun w/ Liam and EJ
Please share your experiences of the show here...the Fanview threads are preserved on the board.
Great show! Loved Ed's energy and so much about the show! Including...
1- Patricks pre-party was incredible and great $ to a good cause
2- Cool venue!
3- Security was friendly and almost not a presence (with one exception)
4- Ed on Mandolin...the guy blows me away...no idea he was so multi-talented
5- Great crowd sing-alongs
6- Many people didn't really experience problems (including me)
7- Dam incredible set list (love gone, sometimes, all the ITW stuff)
8- Classic Wishlist screw up..
9- Ed strumming so fast his hands were a f'in blur!
10- All the times he really seemed very happy, smilin, jokin
11- Prep for the loud ones..."I'm the captain of this ship and you may be walkin the plank"...LMFAO
12-All the great members I met!!!!!!
It was a great pre-party and wow I still can't believe we raised that much. The show was kick ass and I don't care anymore about the hecklers. They are the ones that missed out on seeing a great show. Thanks to all again and it was great seeing old and new faces.
I can't wait for tomorrow nite. It will be nice to chill and relax before the show. See you tomorrow.

Was anyone else just blown away by the opener "Sometimes", I always liked the song, but the way he played it with the block of wood he stomped on gave me chills, it's now one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs.
Great show, my girl loved Ed's version of Blackbird, everything was great except that one fan who would not shut the f*ck up until Eddie finally yelled at the guy. Loved the small venue setting and can't wait for PJ to come back to BrewTown.
:!: Pisss.....Theres still 1 spot open during Summerfest at the Marcus Ampiteather. Went to both Shows in 2006 where PJ opened up for Tom Petty at Summerfest and it was one of the best concerts I've been too.
