I'm kind of surprised someone hasn't mentioned More or Less. That's always been one of my favorite Trees songs.

    ALL OF IT

start with bubblegum i guess... the rest of his solo stuff kind of sounds the same (in a good way)... and then get the 2 gutter twins albums... and the 2 with isobell campbell... and everything he has done with QOTSA... and then from there you can dig around for smaller collaborations

the guy is incredibly busy... THANK GOD :D

I love the Screaming Trees...out of all the bands of that ilk they're the only ones my husband really likes...it has led on to a lengthy collection of all things Lanegan related...the man can't put a foot wrong as far as music goes as far as I'm concerned...his voice is just amazing...you can "feel" it as well as hear it.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense

Dust is a great album and features Mr McCready on a track. I also dig Sweet Obilivon. Great band and worth checking out. I know a few of their early releases are being released on Vinyl soon too. 8-)
  • I would like to see remasters of their whole catalog.

It would really be sweet to see a Deluxe Edition of Dust packed with all sorts of goodies and such.

    Hint, hint ;)

Unlikely, though, since the album is officially out of print.

"Gonna go to that deep river" :) Great tune. Their cover of Tim Rose's Morning Dew is great too. Strangely enough, 'Caught Between' came across my iPod this morning on the way into work. Song rocks

    This really sucks. RIP Van.

It looks like he’d had a rough time of it recently. Gary Lee posted this a couple of days ago:

Update on Screaming Tree Van Conner,
He has been making progress this last week but we nearly lost him. Last year he was in a coma two different times. Once due to emergency stomach surgery and the other because of Covid and a blood clot in his lung. He has been going downhill since then, not being able to walk and finally being confined to bed. Just after new years his liver almost finished him off. He's still pretty out of it but he's coming back again. It's going to be a long road for him but his family is giving him a lot of support. He has many more songs to write...

Let me put this letter on Van’s grave. 🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲🌑🌲
Van Conner bassist and song writer of Screaming Trees died last night of an extended illness at 55 It was pneumonia that got him in the end. He was one of the closest friends I ever had and I loved him immensely. I will miss him forever and ever and ever…

Fade Out City (Epistle To Van)

Endings always come with time, No escape or denial
Searched your inner space, Through all your life
    But the answer’s here outside
No blue sky today, So wish the clouds away
Gone to live in fade out city, fade out city, fade out city

Remember all the years have passed, Remember where our shadows cast
Teardrops in the night bring the flowers in the light, Force your eyes to see a sign
No blue sky today, So wish the clouds away
Gone to live in fade out city, fade out city, fade out city

    Barrett Martin’s tribute

I can't believe another Screaming Tree has fallen but it's true - we lost Van Conner last night. He had been suffering for a long time, years actually, so I hope his passing was gentle and kind, like the gentle and kind spirit that he is. Van was one of the greatest bass players I ever had the honor of playing with, he and I had a deep swing in our rhythm section, a kind of "battleship swing" is how I would describe it. I will always miss that about him, his giant swing. I also remember, after the countless shows we played together, how he would hold court like a jovial, Falstaff-ian character with a circle of people around him, as he told stories and made people laugh while nursing a beer and cooly dragging on a cigarette. Van always made people laugh - what a wonderful gift to offer the world, laughter. Van Patrick Conner, born on St. Patrick's Day 1967, exactly one month older than me but also like a brother. Someone recently posted this video of he and I doing an interview in 1992 as we promoted the Screaming Trees album, "Sweet Oblivion." We were both 25, so young. I never watch these things but somehow watching this reminds me of Van in the best kind of way. What a beautiful soul. A lot of people are going to miss him, the remaining Screaming Trees especially. -B

Such a tragic end to a great band. Do love the dynamic of Lanegan hating being in the band, but needing to be in the band...
