Next manager will probably have Jazz the full season. An improved Lopez, Rogers, Luzardo, and Cabrera. Most likely better free agent signings.www.myspace.com0 -

You're telling me Matt Carpenter was having the best season of his career because of Boone? He just got here and started hitting. Had nothing to do with Boone.
I also think the Phillies would have ended up with a similar record had Girardi stayed. You guys have good players that would have eventually played better. Even though they hated him
Very rarely can you get a bad team to win above .500. Maybe more back before analytics. But if you noticed all these managers that went from good teams to bad teams. Couldn't make those bad teams better. Hinch from Houston to Detroit, Maddon from the Cubs to the Angels.
The Marlins are also rebuilding. It usually takes between 4-6 years. Like the Astros and Cubs for example to start winning again. They thought this was the year. But injuries and bad signings prevented that. You had 2 starting pitchers who took steps back. They had no depth.
They have a chance to get to 80 wins next year if they played to the back of their baseball cards.Post edited by igotid88 onI miss igotid880 -

I have always liked Mattingly since I was a kid, but saying he did a great job this year when his players underachieved does not make any sense to me.www.myspace.com0 -
You want him to cattle prod them?

managers in general are hugely overrated...same with basketball and football coaches.is bobby cox in the HOF without his starting pitching?is TLR there without steroids?is joe torre there without steroids and a huge payroll?is phil jackson the second coming of christ without MJ, shaq and kobe?the best baseball managing I can remember was bruce bochy and how he got underdog Giants teams to 3 rings. he truly did push all the right buttons in those runs. but, as you mentioned, I'm not sure "hunches" and "gut feelings" are even allowed anymore, in this age of analytics. If I had known then what I know now...

Phillies are out for a possible Mattingly managing jobI miss igotid880

With the Mets possibly losing half the team to free agency. They won't be able to sign all their good players. Scherzer might be done as a great pitcher or probably won't play the whole season. deGrom might leave. This might move the Marlins up the standings.I miss igotid880

Could the Dodgers job be open?I miss igotid880

Well the Rangers job is out. Bochy will be their new managerI miss igotid880

The Mets have more money than anyone else. Cohen will spend his way to 90 wins a year.0
