Yeah. It’s too bad because it really is a great festival. Probably the only festival I’d attend again to be honest. Great layout, never too crowded, not a bad seat in the house.
But even last year, tickets were going for below face for 2 nights of PJ. Hotels and flying into the area make it difficult.

The Black Keys playing Ohana the night after LA screamed replacement act. Encore was intended to be a Pearl Jam show, but for whatever reason the plans changed. If it wasn't, there was no reason to cram all those California dates into May. Play a few in the fall and they sell better.
Made sense that it was going to be a Pearl Jam weekend and the fact that they aren't and that they didn't reschedule Sacramento and Las Vegas I hope everything's okay but sure seems like something's going on I can't find anyone talking about extra shows after the fall?
Ohana is great for one weekend. Unless it was Pearl Jam, too many other things going on in LA area for back to back weekends.

You’re incorrect. Pj was never playing Ohana/Encore this year. Not sure if Foo Fighters play three nights in a row, but it would have fit their itinerary prior to Taylor passing away. So maybe they were on it initially and Black Keys replaced FF, but it was never Pear Jam this year.

I’d be more than willing to pay & travel for multiple Ohanas if they followed the Encore format of last year, or the PJ20 format for that matter. It’s not easy to get to, hotels are scarce, but the fest experience is so much better than others.
Announcing the weekends separately makes it tougher to plan ahead, and the lineup more or less included headliners I have purchased tickets for elsewhere, so I hope they learn from the poor Encore sales and find a way to secure and announce great acts early.

I'd say if they were actually thinking about wrapping up this year they would have bolted on a Seattle date to end the fall leg.
It’s a great venue. 2021 was wonderful with all the PJ shows after the 3 years away. This year was going to be a letdown no matter what. The lineup they went with didn’t help matters and there is also the economy, airport chaos, saturation, and all the other issues that others have mentioned. I’ll look forward to Ohana 2023.

I have zero skin in the game... wasn't planning on attending this year, sadly.
But I do just want to send love to the band. They're at such a height in power as a unit now, a true family. With one of their best albums in years to play for folks. But this has clearly not been an easy year. I know they'll deal with it gracefully and I just want good health and happiness and for them to put this years ups and down into a new record with Watt.
And Ohana. One of the absolute best shows I have ever attended. Shit, based on just vibe alone. Its a brilliant few days in a beautiful place. Might sound silly but its maybe the closest you get to feeling like we're at Ed's campfire and unsurprisingly he brought a guitar with him. I've seen PJ many times and Ed. Going back back. But Ohana in 2018 will remain a highlight forever.
And I would have loved to attend this years encore with a killer lineup IMO. Being there is more than just the bands. It's a good overall moment.
So love to Ohana. Shit happens. Life sucks sometimes. Not always tho.
Sad for folks that got excited about seeing this bill but can't now. Yes the price is a little steep but the lineup is really solid. For the folks that feel the lineup is meh, maybe give some of these bands a chance. I got to see the Roots in Seattle back in '09 and it was definitely one of the top 10 live bands I've experienced. Also I haven't seen a lot of love for Alanis Morrissette in this post. 2021 Ohana and Encore were incredible, but what makes Ohana so special is discovering new music and music that's grown like fine wine that influences Eddie to this day. One of my favorite moments last year was Yola, even though I hadn't heard of her before. She blew it out of the park. In 2018 it was Lukas Nelson that killed it for us. No matter PJ or not, my wife and I will continue going to Ohana as long as the gates open. Hope next year Dana Point can make it easier for out of towners to visit their small enclave.
damn i was really excited for this considering i have to miss for first regular Ohana weekend since 2017. its truly a fun weekend so i hope they don’t scrap the idea of an encore weekend for good. lost out on Vegas and this, very strange year for the band i must admit.
