Last year did both weekends, my 2nd Ohana year…. It’s just a tremendously chill, beautiful experience . I was skipping this year as I was already out there earlier for Gigaton socal shows, doing msg/Camden this yr…. Feel for those who planned to go

just fun to park on the street, walk in while other acts were playing… taking in all the sights, sounds. Watching the sun go down in that location when the main acts hit the stage… doesn’t get much better than that. Love seeing my Ian williams poster hanging to remind me

So basically the North American tour is scrapped
No, they’ll fulfill those plans to the best of their ability.

I’m more concerned for what 2023 and on could look like
Me as well .and the  health of the band .I could  see them doing alot smaller  tours like 2008 .2015 .which might be the safest  way

Yeah I'm a little concerned about the prospect of not ever seeing this band again but I tend to think we're still pretty firmly in anomaly territory right now. Just an absurd set of seemingly ever-worsening circumstances that, at some point, will turn back the other way enough to make touring a more feasible endeavor for bands and fans.
That's a great way to look at it

Yes and do their side project  bands .and Pearl jam  both days I would  travel  for that  plus  shows like that a few times a year or a big residency  at the gorge  and Redrock s and a few shows in between  is probably  the safest  route . Let folks travel  to the usa  and it would  be more safe for them. Just saying  for the pacing of the bands energy  and all that involved  to make shows is such hard work  and all  .
Take care  all  and hope to see more shows for everyone

  • Yeah it’s time for a residency. Why not do a string of shows in the middle of the country or on both coasts? Here’s our schedule for the year: 10 shows in Seattle, 10 shows in Chicago, 10 shows in NE. Each 10 shows stretched in a month or so. I don’t think there would be anything to complain about. (Wait it’s PJ fans, let the complaints began)

Have to think this is ticket sale related.  Current economic state might be hitting a breaking point.
Wondering if it means Amsterdam is getting postponed and they’ll do 2-4 Euro shows in Oct after Ohana 1.

Alternatively, I recently posted that a PJ search on stubhub returned results for ACL.
The shows were cancelled, not postponed. They aren't being made up.
I said 2-4.  The 2 Amsterdam shows could be postponed.
You should have said 2 then.  2-4 means you think the other cancelled shows might be made up.

I agree.....it isn't really economically feasible to schlep over to Europe for 2 or 4 arena shows.  Having to incur the related fixed costs for just a few shows would probably make it a money-losing ordeal ( not that money is everything! )

So the northern parts of this country get 30 shows and us on the coasts or southern parts get nothing but high travel costs and setlist watching on this forum. Seems fair. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

I’m kinda Pearl Jam concerted out and I’m good if Fresno was my last show. But Seattle and Chicago and Boston have had enough too. Give some love to middle America and even those states that vote horribly in the south. Tell Lindsey Graham and Bitch McConnell to go fuck themselves with a good old fashion rock show. Blow the doors and the orange off Mar A Largo with amps at 11. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

I love it. It would probably double the population of Nebraska every show. Lol

i say this but I would love to more to a low population state. California is packed to the toilet rim with trash and I would love to escape. So my jokes are definitely based on jealousy.

I was more intrigued by the 10 minute drive. There is only one concert venue in the whole state? I’m sure the demand there is high. Pj might not be able to book it. Lol

This must be poor ticket sales.  I think the first PJ shows back really juiced up demand last year (although Encore 2021 didn’t sell out).  I don’t know anyone going out of their way to Ohana this year with so many PJ shows on the schedule.
I'm going out of my way for Ohana this year, from MO. This after doing 4 shows on the midwest run. Even cancelled my original DMB Hollywood Bowl plans to make this all happen.
Of course, I did all of this before realizing that set length would be reduced by 33% this year. Had I known, I probably would've stuck with my original plans of just 2 PJ shows.

It also seems kinda shady that, aside from the email to those who had already purchased, there's been no public announcement about this whatsoever. They merely scrubbed all mentions of Encore 2022 from both the PJ and Ohana/Frontgate sites.
I guess they figure it's a bad look to be canceling another future show, while in the middle of canceling multiple current shows, after canceling multiple recent shows.

Encore is poorly conceived. It worked last year because it created two more Pearl Jam shows and this fanbase travels. As a model though it doesn't work. You can't announce one festival, sell tickets, and then months later announce a second weekend. ACL doesn't do that. Coachella doesn't do that. If ticket sales were soft, that is not surprising.
Agreed and I've been saying the same thing all along. If you're going to try and continue to slow roll the announcement of an Encore weekend, you better come correct with an incredible lineup. If PJ, RCHP, Dead & Co or even a Harry Styles or Lady Gaga would've been apart of an Encore announcement, ticket demand would've been through the roof!

The Encore Weekend doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you are in the LA area and like the Black Keys, you would just see them at the Forum on the Saturday night. Why would you drive all the day down to Doheny to see them on a Sunday night and have to get back to LA?

Yep. Complete sympathy for the band and crew and the whole team but the 2022 tour has been ROUGH so far and I will be (very pleasantly) surprised if the fall shows go off without a hitch. Band just seems snakebit right now. Hopefully next year’s a better year for them, and their fans.

Most bands are dealing with the same issues. It’s not unique to PJ.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

They won't fly back to Europe for 2 shows
To be fair the Strokes played Europe flew all the way to chicago and then right back to Europe. So it is possible. Just highly unlikely for PJ
