In hindsight, was it smart for Eddie to do a solo tour back in February knowing he was going on a US/EUROPEAN tour a few months later given his previous experience with his throat back in 2018?  Why squeeze that solo tour in before going on a tour that's been postponed for 2 yrs?
I imagine he had a solo release to support and there was a window to play some shows before the EU tour.

Eddie said in 2018 ”this is the only time we ever had to cancel a show” so I would imagine he thinks his voice is stable enough.

Do the solo shows even matter in the context of what happened Paris? His voice has sounded like Eddie sounds on the tour. To my ear.
My point is, why chance it? With covid and previous voice issues knowing full well PJ have a 2yr delayed tour to do, doesn't seem like it was a wise decision
I fail to see proof of a correalation. Lets see what happens in the future.

And it had happened once (1) before. I don’t think he in anyway considered that he was taking a gamble. Like you paint it.

Other than being sick, his voice didnt give out during the US tour or the first 75% of the european leg?

Let’s see what happens on the US leg.

Does make one wonder how the "olds", Springsteen and McCartney are able to tour without many issues and play 25+ song sets
People rag on McCartneys voice though.

He squeaks at times but it is generally pretty good.  Agree with others that Ed's vocals are more intense. I think that is part of the reason why we do not hear spin the black circle or blood anymore.

It's almost as if different people experience different circumstances & situations.
It's almost as if different people aren't learning from others to avoid situations such as this

    What do you mean?
Maybe they can learn something from what Sir Paul did on his tour or maybe layoff off the cigarettes

I agree about the cigarettes, I'm sure the smoking over the years has taken its toll.

I don't understand what they could have learned from McCartney though. He's playing shorter, and less challenging songs from a vocals standpoint. He's also in exceptionally great health for an 80 year old guy.
Learn what the 80yr old guy is doing so you can maybe do the same. What's his diet, exercise routine, covid protocols, etc.. because he's obviously doing something right since he's not canceling shows and playing for a long time during each show, there's something to learn

I don't believe it was worth it especially when he's about to go on a tour that's been postponed for 2 years but agree to disagree

I actually think the solo dates are a warm up for PJ. Singers need to sing.

Having shows in Feb isn't the problem now.

I think the ship has sailed w/ the voice situation. Again, I agree about the cigarettes, I've long since wondered why Ed kept smoking over the years fully expecting it to take its toll on him. I know from personal experience it's not easy to quit, but it's a pretty foolish thing for anyone to keep doing, never mind a person who relies on their voice to make their living.

With that being said, I still don't know how studying what an exceptionally healthy 80yo is doing on his tour would help Ed in 2022. I think you're comparing apples & oranges there.

Sorry for those who are already there or can't change their plans at this point.

Whoever called this tour cursed hit the nail on the head. (maybe @nicknyr15?)

He was smoking as recently as 2020, during both the Bill Simmons and Howard Stern interviews.

I know we used to see him with a cigarette on stage or smoking behind Matt while Mike was soloing or something.  i haven't seen him do that in years.

It seems like he has at least cut back.
He acknowledged on his Howard Stern interview last year that he still hasn't given them up.

Last month in Boston, Paul McCartney played 37 songs and he's 80 years old!
And KISS play 20 songs and Paul Stanley (75isch) have to lipsync.

Everyone aint keeping their voice when they get older. And some people sang it to shreds in the 80s.
I agree but EV is only 57yrs old
Yeah. Well IF there is a problem. It is what it is. You can’t rewind time. Dropping 6-10 songs a night seems to be a way to try to handle the workload of making the live act work in 2022.
Agree but they're charging the same or more as if they didn't drop 6-10 songs
I don’t see why this matters. If you aren’t happy with the cost or the length of the sets, don’t buy a ticket.

Roger Waters played Boston about a week and a half ago and played 23 songs, he's 78yrs old, just saying PJ not playing at least 25 songs but these old dudes are seems odd

    👌
If EV wants to be doing this when he's 80, he may want to take some notes
If that's his intention, sure. He should be taking notes.
