While human lives are endlessly variable, our most memorable positive moments are dominated by four elements: elevation, insight, pride, and connection. If we embrace these elements, we can conjure more moments that matter. What if a teacher could design a lesson that he knew his students would remember twenty years later? What if a manager knew how to create an experience that would delight customers? What if you had a better sense of how to create memories that matter for your children?

This book delves into some fascinating mysteries of experience: Why we tend to remember the best or worst moment of an experience, as well as the last moment, and forget the rest. Why “we feel most comfortable when things are certain, but we feel most alive when they’re not.” And why our most cherished memories are clustered into a brief period during our youth.

I am very glad I didn't start this when it first came to my attention - in the spring of 2020. I'm almost 3/4 through it, and it's well-written, but I'm not sure I like it very much, if that makes sense.

Forgot to mention this one that I just finished a few days ago.  Excellent!  What amazing ladies, both Keller and Anne Sullivan!

I don't re-read many books (so many books, so little time!), but I needed a little boost in these troubling times, so this one is working for me just fine (again!)

Have been lazy about updating and slow going on reading, as I'm usually wiped out when I lay down to read at night.

I bought that for my Dad after we visited Belfast. I haven't read it, but he said it was excellent.

Steal it off him and give it a read, highly recommend. It's been the best way, at least for me personally, to learn more re: The Troubles/the history of it in a meaningful way.

My wife's mom is from Letterkenny, and we try to get over there when we can, so speaking to her family it's wild some of the stories - even not that long ago - while living so close to Derry.
