    Wonder why Philadelphia never got a WNBA team? We've had just about every "minor" sport here. MLS, lacrosse, hell we even had a roller hockey team here in the mid 90's but no NBA team.

    Took the nephews to the ol' Devon Horse Show yesterday. Kind of amazing to me how that event has remained literally unchanged since I was a kid. Same exact rides, same exact games located in the same exact crammed in little section of the grounds too. Still fun walking through stalls and petting the horses. Good times.



    Edit--Dave, yeah I don't know. Don't care either way, but I guess it is odd that we don't have a team.

    Kapler was trying to get Webb his first complete game EVER. I’m reading a book about baseball in the 70’s (big hair and plastic grass)….sparky anderson was known as “Captain Hook” the year his reds “only” had 22 CG’s. hell, marichal got 30 some years. as a footnote, Luis Tiant threw a 155 pitch CG in one of those sox/reds series games.

    Ya know, I'm not a huge Girardi fan but I really do not get this "fire Girardi" stuff, as if that's going to make the difference. There's never been a sport where the manager/head coach means less. This team is a bunch of premium contract players who are who they are, which was put together by the President/GM, not the manager. Also, pretty sure Joe is here because Harper pushed Gabe out and wanted an established high-profile guy like Joe.

    Because Bryce wanted him gone. Turns out Girardi can also lead off with Rhys Hoskins. And I'm not even too much of a sour grapes guy on Gabe, I just think this team's issues is beyond the pale of who the manager is. Also, teams are going to win/lose in spite of their manager, they may - at the absolute most - might be the difference in a handful of games over a 162 game season. And especially now in a world of the NL having the DH. Now, playoffs, that's another story. But, again, less so with the DH.

    Hearing from multiple people that know a lot better than me that Philly won it's bid for some FIFA World Cup action in '26. That's cool and not cool at the same time. Down at FDR they built out some pretty awesome trails and there's a good chance they're going to destroy them all for 8 soccer fields because there's a requirement to have practice space or some dumb stuff. Don't understand why they can't, ya know, just us all the infrastructure that's everywhere else around here.

    250th anniversary of the country and games in July. We have always been a lock.  And probably a good chance US team plays at the Linc on July 4th.

    we are also getting MLB All-Star game and hoping to get NBA and NHL All-Star games that year as well to match what happened in 1976.  that is going to be a wild July 4th year around here.

    edit: I think the US Open is at Merion again that year as well
