Oakland 2 - Two Years Of Waiting, Reece Is Getting His Given To Live Show ❤️

Reece’s Pearl Jam Oakland Dream Isn’t Broken.

Given To Live caught up with Reece at the weekend and he’s excited. Very excited! Delayed gratification is an important thing…but two years?

In fact it’s over two years since we first said yes to the application for Reece to see Pearl Jam. Two years of waiting for your first show, waiting without knowing or even an indication as to when. Then suddenly it’s here.

Friday May 13th.

Now less than ten days and Reece is excited, very excited. And older, two years older and a fully fledged teen. And while lockdowns and a world is chaos was unkind to so many Reece looks fantastic, getting all grown up and taller than dad which is always a bonus. And a voice that’s deepened nicely. We’ve never had over two years from application to show and it’s certainly not something anyone would choose but the fun part is seeing how Reece has grown.

And he’s doing really well in school with an abundance of As (I’ve heard of such things but never saw one) and he’s in a good place with his Glut1 so he’s all set for the show. Yes, he’ll have a wheelchair but that will be to conserve energy so he’s fully fresh for the show and all systems go for a rock n roll show with his favourite band.

With Glut1 Reece needs specific meals, weighed to the gram at specific intervals but that’s ok, we’re there to help and make sure all goes smoothly and as we’re having a pre show get together for Reece and his fan club we’ll be making sure his needs are met. After all, he is our boss for the day as Given To Live is there to be his PA.

Reece loves Mike McCready and had hoped our tickets would be on his side for a more up close and personal view of the maestro in action but while we can do a lot we’re not yet at the point of getting tickets exactly where we’d like but it’s still going to be an incredible night for Reece.

Now we know he’s looking forward to Dance Of The Clairvoyants. We also asked him for his dream setlist so we could create his own setlist tee shirt and Green Day’s Boulevard Of Broken Dreams was on it. Now how amazing would it be if Pearl Jam, who do covers so well, brought that out for Reece? Oh, that would be a gigatonne of amazing.
