Thought the show was very up and down. New stuff sounded great, but they don’t really know how to use it in a setlist yet, and crowd responses were very mixed. I’m interested to see if the shows look similar over the next few weeks.

Head is still spinning/buzzing.  I had a fantastic time.  Great side seats on the rail at the 50yard line - could see and hear perfectly.  Perfectly juiced up so certainly not going to be the best judge/analyze but I had great fun and that's what's important to me.

As others said, Eddie did a lot of home town talking, which for me living in Encinitas near where he grew up is always fun.  Introduced his 1st guitar teacher, Bud, who still runs the local guitar shop, AMX, and does work on mine occasionally.  Also gave a hello to Bill Walton who responded with his natural arms wide open pose.  Love it!

mid-set Long Road for his brother was special.
The 7 o'clock/Jeremy/Porch run was fantastic
Best Lightning Bolt I've ever heard - set closer intensity.
Getting the mamasan trilogy was cool as always, even with the order mixed up.
Fully expected Ledbetter after Alive, but I guess 11:30 curfew drew the line.
Supposedly they started later because of traffic - would have been nice to get a few more songs, but with two shows coming this weekend...no biggie.

posters were available until venue closed.  Not sure if the design put people off or if they made more than enough.  License plates were sold out early though.  Love the $2 stickers!

Very good show. I’ve seen every Pearl Jam and Ed solo performance in SD since 1995 so for sure, you know it’s going to be a family affair. His stories about his mother and particularly the impact the loss of his brother had were really powerful, very Springsteen like.

But the tales about every place he ever set foot in while living in San Diego were a bit much. :) I think there were 35? songs played the last time they played the venue in 2013, last night there were 23. The new songs sound fantastic. I saw all 4 shows in 2021 and they sounded good then, they were even better last night. The band is clearly very well rehearsed but as some people have noted above, they haven't figured out yet how to fully integrate the Gigaton songs. The show felt rushed at the end, a combination of the delay in taking the stage and the large amount of talking Ed did. The final 3 songs were, of course, fantastic but overall the non-Gigaton selections did have more of a greatest hits feel than I've ever seen Pearl Jam play before.

I completely get playing tighter sets with a focus on the new material, which they are rightly very excited about, and it will be interesting to see how the tour develops, especially with 2 shows coming up this week in LA.

stage design was super minimal.  no balls or crown of thorns above the stage.  just a couple light bars...

Do you think Ed talking so much was intentional to allow him to catch his breath in between songs?  HIs voice did sound really good.  How about more songs with longer instrumentals?

Man that was a blast. Got lost in it, was surprised it was only 23 when I saw the set list. Would love to have had more, but just grateful to have been there.

just getting to work this morning. Show was amazing. Had second row GA right in front of Mike, so sick. Some people complaining about set list or not enough songs, I get it. But the show itself was on fire! My ears are ringing big time right now, but so happy. Was able to bring two of my boys, one his first pj concert. Actually his first ever concert. He was blown away. They sounded amazing, lots of energy, all good. On to LA to do it a couple more times!
Any pick scores? Great spot. Glad you and family had a blast.

Ok, I don’t know if this happened at any other show but maybe I didn’t notice at Ohana…Ed had a backing track. I think it was Dance of Clairvoyants. Josh was singing back up but Ed stopped signing to interact and I heard him still singing. Is this new?

Yes. He uses a looping pedal on Dance of the Clairvoyants. I think others pointed this out during the SHN shows.

Crowd looked DEAD during DOC. How were some of the other gigaton songs received?

Another great show (my 17th since 1998, including the 3 Ohana's), with a good setlist...however, I guess I need to cut back on shows, because last night was the first time ever that I did not get to hear at least one new PJ song.  All I got that was new to me was the pre show opening cover.

I am hoping LA serves up something a bit different than last night's Ten (6 songs) and Gigaton (8 songs) heavy show (they made up 60% of the setlist).  That being said, in LA I would love to hear Release as it's been a while since they've played that, and I'm still searching for Deep for the first time.  And of course, I'd love to hear the debut of Comes Than Goes.  I wish they would've just played Gigaton straight through in order last night.

Highlights included the Oceans opener, Quick Escape (I'll take that every night!) followed by Long Road, and I got the reverse Mamasan Trilogy for the first time.

Ed was very very talkative (as I expected he would be).  I think he could've tightened it up just a bit though and cranked out another 2-3 songs.  Hell, the show before that (Ohana #3) had three more songs than last night, and it was a festival show.

Overall, a fantastic show as always, but it sounds like I'm not alone in that those of us who are spoiled by having seen a good amount of shows (including the Ohana shows), may have been a tad more disappointed in last night's show than usual.

That being said, KEEP ON ROCKING PEARL JAM, there is still nobody that can do it better!

Was he the one doing the looping? They were definitely done live but couldn’t tell if he was the one hitting them
