I went to the one in Hawaii and really enjoyed it but expensive of course.

Ellis Island BBQ is just ribs and chicken. I think their other restaurant does steaks.

A friend of mine keeps recommending Gordon Ramsey’s steakhouse, haven’t been there yet.

I usually go to Korean BBQ restaurants, prefer them over traditional steakhouses and I’m Korean.

Ellis Island BBQ seems to have a limited menu but looks to have great reviews. Anyone here recommend it for good BBQ food or something better?

Are you trying to stick to the strip/downtown?  If not I can recommend a few places off-strip.

Ellis Island Restaurant steak special - off menu, but if you ask, they'll let you know. I think you need to play $5 thru a machine to get the coupon. Is it fancy? no? will it fill you for cheap? probably.

You should check out the restaurant Best Friend. It's Roy Choi's Vegas restaurant and it's excellent. He's the guy behind the Kogi Truck that started the food truck craze a decade ago.

General advice for those who haven't been to Vegas before: objects on the Strip may appear closer than they are, not only because pedestrian traffic moves slowly and has to go up, around and over the cross-streets, but also because that big casino tower that looks like it's a ten-minute walk could literally be two miles away.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

And once you have arrived at the casino, it can take you a while to get inside and walk to the area of interest once there (looking at you Ceasar's and the Forum Shops!).

i swear I was walking in circles for over an hour trying to get out of there!! found an exit out to a remote parking lot.

This is the stone cold truth. Last trip for Metallica and I had blisters on my feet. the walking looked so close and it was so far. Wear good walking shoes 😆

This. I also like Bazaar Meat (the Jose Andres place at Sahara) but wouldn't really call it a traditional "steak" place.

It's close in terms of Vegas casinos but give yourself plenty of time if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. It could take you 15 minutes to go from your room to the street. Another 15-20 minutes from street to get to MGM Grand. If youre going straight to the arena there is a small street that is next to Hard Rock that leads back to the arena. It will save you time. If you google map it you will see what i mean. I have a room booked at Vdara, the sister hotel of Aria. Love them both. See you there.
As a long time resident, I have come to the opinion that 50% of people on the Vegas strip are simply there to "be in the way". As a long time resident, I also avoid the strip as much as possible.
  • I can understand your feelings. Unfortunately I’ll be one more person in the way. First time visiting so I’ll be rubbernecking on foot for sure. 😅
