Solid move to ban Russian oil…it seems anyhow. How I wish we had a president that could communicate though. Seems like forever.
I worked in the Oil & Gas industry mainly in Pipeline and Logistics for 30 years... recently retired from one of the biggest companies...If I mentioned the name, you'd know it.....

I can tell you without hesitation this is a BS move. In 30 years I never heard of 1 drop of Russian oil going to any refineries in the US.

Dealt with oil from many countries.... NEVER RUSSIA

    Total BS...

It made oil prices go up, so it did something...

I saw a chart that we import like 8% of all crude we take in.  THAT makes oil jump up a friggin dollar in price?

Like @Halifax2TheMax said earlier, watch record profits from the oil companies post later.
What’s also funny is after every spike in price it takes forever to go down. The reason I always hear from oil companies is that the supply is a few months behind, it takes time to refine and distribute, so when oil prices drop it takes a few months to see that effect at the pump. The funny thing is I never see it the other way around. It takes hours of oil prices going up to see it reflected at the pump.
May be a first, Tempo, Halifax and me all agree on something, record profits for oil companies will surely come.
Oh yeah for sure. Its complete BS how fast prices can rise at the pump.
I remember when Katrina hit, they said how it would affect gas/oil prices. The next morning driving to work all the gas stations on my drive had jumped like 60 cents from the day before. There's no way that they were selling gas that was affected by the storm.
That is when I first noticed the scumbag tendencies of the oil companies.  We were paying over $5 a gallon in Louisiana the day after Katrina and got no relief for MONTHS because we had Rita roll in a few weeks later.

I have post traumatic stress disorder (due to an accidental occurrence, not war) and had a bit of a PTSD related anxiety attack this morning when I thought I heard a gun fire (people target practice around here occasionally).  As I was putting myself back together, I got to thinking about how many soldiers and civilians will suffer with PTSD for the rest of their lives due to the war in Ukraine- literally millions of people.  I had previously thought about the loss of wildlife and domestic animal life due to the war, but it hadn't occurred to me that highly intelligent and sensitive animals, like the elephant above, will also suffer emotionally as a result of the war.
The cumulative affect of this war in terms of loss of life, long-term suffering, destroyed infrastructure, damaged economies, prolonged hatred, and the affects to wildlife and environment is staggering.  It's almost too much to even think about sometimes.

fuck I hate seeing animals behind bars. My youngest keeps badgering me to let her get a turtle (or anything without hair that my wife isn't allergic to). I keep telling her: I'm not holding an animal prisoner for our entertainment. full stop. never. ever. I can't stand that we even have a fish in a 25 gallon tank. imagine living your entire life in one room of your house. ugh. I don't care that they have small brains. Fish can actually recognize their owner up to 3 months. so that's not nothing.

anyway, sorry for going off topic. I just hate the sight of that.

That's why I love The Elephant Sanctuary.  They have created a very large and natural space.
Elephants Find Paradise in Tennessee Saving Earth Encyclopedia Britannica
And despite supporting this organization, I not only no not mind, but I support their position that say not even member are allowed to visit the elephants.

The Elephant Sanctuary is a true sanctuary - a place of retirement for elephants.

    • You can observe the elephants anytime you like from the comfort of your own home via our live-streaming EleCams.
    • The needs of the elephants have always been and will always be our top priority.
    • The elephant habitats are not open to visitors.
    • The Elephant Discovery Center in downtown Hohenwald, TN includes interactive multi-media exhibits, a theater, an outdoor classroom, and regularly scheduled programming about elephants, the purpose of Sanctuary, and conservation efforts in the wild.

i love the fact that Cobi bricks, a version of legos that has military kits since lego does not, is releasing a ghost of kyiv kit with 100% of proceeds going to help ukraine. Cobi is a company based in Poland and they came out right away to condemn Russia and help the people of Ukraine. Cobi does not even want to ship any of their product to Russia.

The video below shows the head of the company talking about the ghost of kyiv model kit, and why they are supporting Ukraine vs russia.

the video starts at 5:30 due to a technical issue. the guy speaks in broken english because it is his 2nd language, but this model kit looks pretty badass. i think i am going to buy one when they are available. he shows the actual model kit at 14:33.

i am also a big fan of their WWII collection. I have a few sets. i am planning to get this when it goes on sale, as well as the limited edition maus tank. the maus is for sale now, but it is kind of pricey. it is big so need to find a place to display it first. the ghost will not be limited edition so as many people that want them can get them. all proceeds going to charities to help ukranians directly.

that's cool, i had no idea anyone else liked this stuff.   my youngest has built the USS Enterprise, the B-17 and the ME-109.  the latter two because of her liking of the book A Higher Call (about a german pilot that instead of shooting down a severely damaged B17, escorted  it safely to the Atlantic Ocean so it could possibly make it home).
