Okay but it's her own network MSNBC (and the others) that has chosen to focus on this Ukraine/Russia war. There's a civil war going on in Ethiopia right now. There's been several war crimes, it's a humanitarian crisis, and I'll wager a guess there's not many white Christians in Ethiopia....yet no coverage on The Joy Reid Show.....that I'm aware of anyway.Jearlpam0925 said:

I was actually just thinking about this exact thing the other day. the other factor.....third world country wars don't have the capacity to impact life all over the planet should it go sideways.JB16057 said:I know everyone here loves Fox News....MSNBC's Joy Reid: World paying attention to Ukraine because it's a 'White ... But she's right. There are a few factors; resources, demographics, etc. this has been the same through every conflict since the advent of TV.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
Regardless of whether there's a racial slant to it it's (the war) a big fucking deal. What I'm saying is she's not necessarily wrong in her statement. Both can be true. Not sure what's trying to be proved here.Ledbetterman10 said:

Yeah, this is a war crime. Killing an elderly couple at a stop sign is fucked.

Well this is at least an actual criticism. If the other one you're talking about when you say "also" is the Joy Reid thing, that's more a complaint about the coverage than an actual criticism about anything relevant to the war.
As for Omar here, good for her. I doubt there's many other Democrats that would publicly say that. And I wouldn't be surprised if there's people in her party angry with her for it. But that's one thing I'll give the so-called "Squad." I may not agree with many of their stances, but at least they don't tow the party-line like most Democrats and Republicans do.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I still think the criticism is next to moot when their people are being slaughtered, and they have to do what they have to keep Putin at bay. What should we do instead? Send baseball bats or pepper spray?Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

Putin wanted to turn Ukraine into Russia.By arming them to the teeth, we will turn them into the US, especially since they have a similar quotient of regressive white supremacists within their citizenry.I SAW PEARL JAM0

No offense, but I think you're trying too hard. The idea that there's a false equivalency that matches groupthink in the Dem party that even comes close to that of the Republican Party is far from reality. I know if the Republican Party had all three branches of government they'd be all vomiting in the same direction. It's easy to all agree with one another when nihilism is their leading quality trait.Ledbetterman10 said:Jearlpam0925 said:Again, this is also a valid criticism:

Somehow you think the Democratic Party walks in lockstep the same as the Republican Party. The Democratic Party is the 2nd preferred party for The Ruling Class, no doubt, but to lump it all and think that one actually doesn't do more critical thinking than the other is disingenuous.Ledbetterman10 said:

My wife and I wanted to do something positive in the midst of all this chaos so we gave money to an fund to help Ukraine. It wasn't a bad choice, but I later read and article that mentioned better places to send money that will get the funds to where they are needed most more quickly. On another forum, I heard about this organization and checked them out on this site:and then checked them with Charity Navigator who gave them high marks, so we made our next donation to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund through GlobalGiving.Another good option is here:an outfit that Charity Navigator give a score of 85 out of 100 which is very good. There's all the reason in the world to be angry with Russia and condemn Putin's actions, but doing something useful is an even better way to express one's feelings in a way that helps the world move forward.

You're the one talking about the Republican party here. Maybe I should've said "like most politicians do" rather than "like most Democrats and Republicans do" so the responses I got wouldn't be so partisan and defensive. But I made no mention the of two parties "walking in lockstep." You're pulling that out of the air.Jearlpam0925 said:

Either way, Omar and her crew have gone against the usual Democratic party talking-points on several occasions over the past few years. Now, every Democrat I've seen talk about aid to Ukraine have talked about it as if it's something we must do, no questions asked. But she's asking questions, or at least pushing back a little. Is there a single other Democrat that has said anything to that nature? By all means, post it if they have.
