    Im sure it did but what? 90s are the end of good rock. There's been a handful of good bands since then (White Stripes, early Mumford, Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes,  etc.) but I don't see any SG in there.

    I'm sure they have, I just don't think they've had the same level of influence as the other two, or even the other big four of seattle.

    Well for one thing, they certainly influenced their contemporaries, particularly PJ, AIC and Nirvana. After CC passed away, every artist seemed to say CC was a one of a kind singer.
    i would say they are a big influence on the alt-metal scene that followed.  I think it was Dave Grohl who said Black Hole Sun was half the Beatles and half Black Sabbath. They were the most metal and experimental of the 90s alt-scene so the certainly influenced that genre heavily as did Tool. 
    Now, I’m not a huge fan of the alt-metal scene  (Korn, Dillinger Escape Plan, Drowning Pool, etc.) that followed post-hardcore which I love (Fugazi, Helmet, Quicksand)  but these bands had a following and sold a lot of records.

    I see what you're saying, but usually when a band is that influential, you can hear snippets of said influence in other bands. I don't hear anything like SG in any other bands right now. Sure, CC was a one of a kind singer and songwriter; there is no doubt about that. I just haven't seen any silverchairs to nirvanas with soundgarden. (maybe silverchair is a bad example, since it was so soon after, but you get my point). now, I don't really listen to those alt metal bands now, but I did, and I don't hear any SG in any of them.

    It’s just a little disingenuous to make the argument against SG because they didn’t have influence. Not saying they are the greatest US band ever, but I haven’t voted them off once because I like them more than other bands on the list.

    fair enough. influence wasn't my only reasoning, however, just my biggest reasoning. 

    plus, if you influenced people who's bands I can't stand, that works against you. :lol:

    😂.  I was just confused that SG wasn’t getting credit for influencing anyone. I do like some Linkin Park and am certainly a Brandi C. fan, but a lot of that Nu-metal/alt-metal/metalcore that SG influenced isn’t my cup of tea either.

    interesting. in all these weakest link polls, I dont recall any them being about most influential etc....


    its all subjective and kinda arbitrary. seeing how age range is presenting itself era or groups folks were most drawn to initially etc...

    As the final vote narrows, it invariably gets tougher to make decisions as perhaps people are looking to expand their criteria on who they will vote out.  It is a form of objectivity. It’s a frivolous poll really. You can be as objective or subjective as you like. Who cares? 😂

    True.  I think the influence piece comes in when/if the band or artist a person likes is not winning, or was previously voted out.  (See, sour grapes.). ;)
