    I hate that call, even though I think it was correct. The whole “the defensive back didn’t get his head turned around” stuff is overblown. Makes sense sometimes, but not when the ball hits the defensive player in the back before he actually makes contact with the receiver he’s face-guarding.

    If you make no contact with the receiver prior to touching the ball,  agreed it should never be a penalty.  They are calling the head firm thing too tight.

    Because, after a certain amount of time running down field, a DB should realize the ball is in the air and you can look up and behind you for the ball. After a certain amount of time a DB can play the ball and not the receiver. Had he been looking, he’d have an INT and an easy one at that.

    This is a criticism of technique.  If he doesn't make contact with the receiver, he should not be flagged, regardless of his poor technique.  Face guarding is not a penalty in the NFL either.

    Speaking for stupid pi calls/no calls. Brady gets bailed out with some minor hand fighting and the subsequent drive Winfield yanked the Colts receiver by the shoulders and snagged the interception.
