Shaq played 7 more years after he left the Lakers. Not exactly end of his career. and how about Kobe himself calling Shaq 'lazy' and said they would have won 10 championships if Shaq tried harder.RiotZact said:
When they chose to stick with the guy that was just entering his prime vs. the guy that was exiting his prime? Yeah, what a head scratcher.pjhawks said:
You are entitled to your (wrong) opinion. That is what makes sports great. But isn't it interesting that when the Lakers had to choose between Shaq and Kobe they chose Kobe and got rid of Shaq?RiotZact said:Shaq > Kobe
And I’ll fight to the death over that opinion. Revisionist historians be damned.Post edited by pjhawks on0 -
instead of a snarky response want to tell me which of the players i mentioned who have played for the Lakers he was better than? No reasonable NBA historian or person who has covered the NBA thinks his career was better than LeBron, Kareem, Wilt, or Magic. Not one. So maybe Kobe or Jerry West? maybe...so at best he is the 5th best player who has played for the Lakers. And you will get a lot of people who will tell you that Kobe and/or Jerry West had better careers. So yea stick to soccer.Cliffy6745 said:

Again I think there are clearly a top 8 in NBA history that most people who follow the NBA agree on in some order:
Jordan
LeBron
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Wilt
Oscar Robertson
Bill Russell

Alright...5, 10, maybe 15, whatever. The point remains. I also don't really care that much, just thought it was odd to call out one of the best players ever.0

His first game back at the Center for his new team will be TO w/the Cowboys in '06 all over again....except I can almost guarantee Ben will sit that game out.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0 -

I'd be shocked if he has the balls to actually suit up in his first game backCliffy6745 said:Place is gonna go ape shit for a free frosty. I’ll be there for that game. Will be all time booswww.myspace.com0 -
He has to. He’ll be the biggest pussy in the history of the league if not.The Juggler said:

Should just be on StubHub as The Frosty Game.0

Well...how many other perimeter players, with his pedigree, were afraid of shooting a basketball though? I don't think him ducking out on that first game back is far fetched. Hope I'm wrong because, yeah, I'd love to be there too.Cliffy6745 said:

I don't like Stephan A Smith....but the man speaks the truth
“Good luck to the team he lands with. Because at this particular moment in time we can only say you’ll be getting a good player, but not one willing to do what’s required to be great. If (screaming) Ben Simmons developed a free throw shot, not even a jump shot, he’d average 25 a game. He’s that gifted, he’s that special of a talent. His problem is he’s scared to shoot. And the 76ers, and the 76ers fan base is to blame? And you don’t want to come back because you can’t deal with them? That’s a heart check, ladies and gentlemen.”

Except when he says Simmons is "Lebron James part 2" if he develops a jump shot. That's just a tad over the top.The Juggler said:I don't like Stephan A Smith....but the man speaks the truthThis weekend we rock Portland0 -

The point he was trying to make is Simmons' ceiling is (was?) that of a generational talent. He's already an elite defender and passer. If he put the work in to develop a shot, he would be a superstar. That is what most of us expected to happen a few years ago. Instead, he spends his offseasons dating Kardashians and his game has regressed.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0 -
Exactly. At this point he's just another banal celebrity. Paris Hilton. A Kardashian. One of those people. Shame - I can't imagine any other team would give us anything of value for him.The Juggler said:

They're not trading him. I hope he gets fined into the ground. This isn't even a matter of anything being based what the media or fans or some bullshit said in the off-season. It's that this dude doesn't want to be #2 to the actual franchise player and that he absolutely quits.

Stephen A said yesterday the Sixers rejected McCollum, Covington, and picks in exchange for Simmons.
If true...why reject that?www.myspace.com0 -
I have to think it's the amount of 1st round picks? I kept seeing that was a holdup. I think I'm down with Morey just getting into a staring contest with Ben.The Juggler said:Stephen A said yesterday the Sixers rejected McCollum, Covington, and picks in exchange for Simmons.

Feel like this would be a pretty decent haul for him, all things considered.Jearlpam0925 said:

McCollum's a perfect fit offensively with Jo, you get another 3 and D from Covington, plus you keep both Maxey and Mattise.www.myspace.com0
