My experience, from what I have (though admittedly from what I have is limited to just a few titles- Dennis Wilson, Pacific Ocean Blue and J Mascis, Live at CBGB's), and from what I've read is that they are far more often than not digitally sourced and not the greatest sounding. Mine is the MOV. It sounds great. I don't avoid that label, but sometimes there are other versions that are better. There's a version from QRP, and another from RTI.
