The Camera Nazis almost caught me...so that's all I got"I feel the same way about disco as I do about herpes." - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, 19770 -
I'm not one to bitch about silly things...........(The show was incredible!) It was not my P.J Rodeo by far, only the first solo rodeo. But if any these idiots are on this board who felt it necessary to get up every 20 freakin' minutes during the show, you should be ashamed. Twenty! "piss breaks" .......Really? Sitting in the lower, upper Balcony I had a pretty good view of the arena. I literally saw the same people get up and down 10 times. Then you times that by everyone else who need "one more beer" who got up and it equates to a non stop flow of "squirrels" scurry around all night. I think the "scurrying squirrels" "foraging for nuts" bothered me more than the idiot shouters. Who, by the way, are probably not die hard fans, and thought they were at the Verizon Center. And probably have not seen a PJ show for ten years. If the guy giving the concert tells you to shut the hell up, hmmmmmmm what should you do? I know..... hollar Louder! That is just disrespectful. If you are one of the aforementioned idiots (squirrels) do us all a favor from now on and stay the f*^K home.
P.S Great show. Thanks EV!0 -

I think you said that pretty well. I had a couple rum and cokes before the show and almost pissed my pants waiting until it was over. Get up to go pee during EV? I'll hold it thank you very much."I feel the same way about disco as I do about herpes." - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, 19770 -
Just want to add my two cents about the show. After seeing the setlists for the 2 Toronto shows I was looking forward to the DC show. Thought we may get a little Neil Young, but the setlist was pretty similar to the show at NJPAC with a few exceptions. After the NJPAC show I was left wanting more, but I was a little disappointed with last night's show. I guess I should be happy that I was in the building. I am and the acoustics were great but he has set the bar high with his earlier shows and I was hoping for something magical. Not complaining as any thing with PJ is worth it, just wanted more. I definitely thought the NJPAC show was much better. Eddie was in a better mood and the venue was incredible. Still would love a DVD or boot of any of the Solo gigs. Maybe he will pull out a few surprises tonight. Wish I was there.0

This is the only show I was able to go to on the solo tour
It was really great, except of course for the shouters. At first it didn't really bother me b/c I was expecting it but I figured they'd eventually shut up. It's just so rude and disrespectful to Eddie and everyone else and irritating to me personally b/c they probably had better seats than me! I was in the upper balcony almost to the back by the wall but I still had a pretty decent view and I thought the sound was really great. Loved the theater too.
I'm sooooo glad I got to go
I really hope they put out a DVD too
And Liam Finn was great too0 -
going to make this quick very tired and most highlights already posted...
1) thanks 10C...row B
2) Show was un-f'ing-believable
3) Sometimes, Parting Ways, Small Town, Millworker, Blackbird, Hard Sun all great.
4) Liam was awesome
Lowlight of show...A-hole right behind me yelling for Harvest Moon 15 times...(Ed basically told the guy to shut the hell up, be he never got the point). It's amazing how Ed told the crowd to shut up so he could think and people still would yell...0 -
I will be at Milwaukee and If any asshole decides to be loud and yell requests all night, I will be the one on the bootleg where eddie says "holy shit someone just jumped three rows and beat someones ass." There has to be a way to get these people out of the show. I will get kicked out beating someones ass. Chicago is a toss up, you have all fan club base (mostly) and hopefully we (Chicago will be the example of the tour) If the assholes begin to surface we will get together and hold this person down while I piss on there face and I will stuff there mouth with my balls. For those who are thinking into this a little to far I have balls of steel so biting down will not be an issue. They will choke and die before getting the satisfaction of inflicting pain on me.
The end.

Just a little perspective on the shouters. There were 1,800 people in the theater. There were maybe 20 people shouting (I'm not sure how many -- it sounded like they were all behind me or in the balcony). Yes, they were annoying, rude, disrespectful, etc. But the vast majority of the audience was well behaved. I think Eddie realized that too, and wasn't holding against those of us who know that it was a different type of concert. So my thanks to the majotiy of the audience for being so respectful. And I want to thank everyone in front of me for sitting down so quickly when Eddie asked us to take our seats. It was as if everyone wanted that nice intimate atmosphere.0

i didn't get a chance to read everyone's posts, but my quick thoughts on the show...
-audience was awful. seriously. how many times does ed have to say he's getting p*ssed off and it's a distraction...and they STILL keep yelling. it was distracting to me because he kept saying it was distracting to him. really frustrating.
-loved all of the talk. of the solo shows i've been to, this is the most ed commentary we've gotten.
-a ton of comedy in tonight's show. favorite line with the uke, "this is where i pinned the little f*cker to the mat." loved the mask sequence, his bonus features, his dancing/facial expressions to the kids' song. ed is a funny guy.
-PARTING WAYS!!!!!!!!!! god i love that song. sooooooo happy to hear it last night.0 -
I still cant figure out how people can continuously yell at these shows. The only explaination is an obvious lack of intelligence, paired with the fact that mommy and daddy never gave them attention.
Everyone around me, in the front portions of the left side (and the front center (other than the "arm raiser") were really well behaved and "got the picture"0 -
iluvcats wrote:Why didn't we think of the note thing? Ed seems like he's making friends with the fans. I'm all for new friends!
I actually did think of it! I put my daughter's college application essay (the essay where they ask you to write about anything) in an envelope with a note on it saying what it was & saying that it explains everything. She wrote about how for years I would play PJ in the car for them on the way to my son's ice hockey practices about an hour from our house, and how we bonded over PJ's music. When I got them PJ tickets in 2003 (long after our car rides to the hockey rink ended), they refused to go unless I came with them. I thought I was too old to go to a concert, but they insisted. We went, and I had a blast, and I've been hooked on the concerts ever since. I got the envelope to Eddie's driver, who promised to give it to his manager. I hope he does read it. She wrote it five years ago (it did get her into college), and it's really sweet.0 -

Hahaha. Let's hope they don't pull a Jeremy at one of these concerts!0 -

The vast majority of the audinece was very nice! Only a handful were awful.
I agree with you about the comedy. I loved the stuff about the uke, and his antics while listening to the kids' CD. Eddie is so quick-witted & funny. I'd love to go out for a drink with him!0 -

dear fans, it is cold as hell in the warner theater. I froze in flip flops. I had to put one of my feet (minus the flip flop) under my husband's legs!
last night was August 16 -- the anniversary of Elvis' death in 1977, our 11th wedding anniversary, and our first time seeing ed solo live!
I know what you mean. I hope people dressed warmly for tonights show. I was in the very last row in the upper balcony. My arms were numb by the time I left. The vents were shooting right at us.
It was a great show."In the age of darkness

jocelyn wrote:There was one point when Ed was going to bribe a guy a row or two in front of us to put his arms down with some pics. The guy had left (!!) so he gave them to the dude behind him who "had to suffer". Too funny.
I'm the one that had to sit behind that guy for part of the show. The guy Ed was gonna bribe along with the girl that was with him kept leaving their seats and coming back many times throughout the show. I'm guessing one of them drank too much. Lucky for me he wasn't there (and never came back to his seat after that), so I got 5 guitar picks (1 obviously used) from Ed. I gave one to a girl sitting next to my wife (sorry I didn't get your name, if you read this send me a PM) and another to a Pearl Jam fan that recently got engaged to my cousin.
Ed definitely noticed my shirt there (saw him point to me and then to his shirt). I was wearing a shirt that had "Void Where Prohibited by Law" stamped over the Bill of Rights. I wonder if that helped influence Ed to give the picks to me.
A big THANK YOU to Ten Club for the great seats (3rd row). Makes me wish they would do totally random seating for PJ shows so more people can experience being that close. I would never get seats that good for Pearl Jam with my membership without winning the lottery for the first two rows as they did last tour.0 -
