Thats the main reason I do not go to shows in Norfolk or VA Beach due to the traffic in the afternoon coming from D.C. I have not been to a show in that area since 2004.

    i don't blame you.
    even for PJ.

it's gotten awful since i've been a kid. used to take 45mins from norfolk to williamsburg, now it takes 1.5hr.

hampton roads is listed in 5 top worse cities for traffic.
You’d think we were the only peninsula in the country.

I don't remember tailgating at the last show, b/c we didn't plan the traffic situation very well. What I do remember is my Wrangler being covered in dust/dirt by the time we left that night.

All the beach hotels are only about a 10-15 minute drive to the venue. Plus it's a week night show, so it will be cheaper rates.
  • i'll be there, mother fuckers.

Matt, think of a place for a meet up.

I'm thinking, I'm thinknig! I don't see there being TOO many people at this, unlike a Philly / NYC show.

Also, if people don't want a hotel, there are campgrounds right down the street which are cheap, offer showers and aren't too far from the beach and other things.

I'm strongly considering going for the simple fact that it's the closest place to me where the Kings of Leon are opening.

I'm still going to MSG and Mansfield, but would love to be able to see KoL again. We'll see.

i say might as well tailgate afterwards because it takes forever to get out of there after a show. :)

hey, don't forget there's a slew of hotels off greenbriar exit which is one exit away if you access the amp from indian river road. (hotels off jarman rd)

i can't think of a cool meet up place by the amp either. maybe the new buffalo wings by the new Kohl’s? whattya think?

    Traffic hint:
And stay off Hampton roads bridge tunnel. Well between 3pm to 8pm
    It’s a bitch.
Take monitor Merrimac (664) it looks longer but it’s worth it. only about 10 difference depending on where you're going.

Definitely! Allow plenty of time for traffic. I was stuck in traffic for 2-3 hours one time because there was a fire in the tunnel!

Am I going to be able to take a cab to and from my hotel? I probably would be doing society a big favor by not driving after the show

From what I remember at past shows here, there are usually cabs out on the main road.
