Got two clown responses and one thoughtful response. Is that what they call getting ratioed on Twitter? Anyways, to explain the death toll and measures not being taken, what are the explanations for New York and California which had the strictest measures of any states? As I type, Birx is on CBS talking about how Trump failed (which I agree) but why should I listen to the woman that said I should not gather for Thanksgiving and went to her lake house with her family from different households? Rules are thee, not for Debbie B!My local news told me this morning that the CDC is recommending two masks now, because... one isn’t enough? One doesn’t do anything? Honest question, why stop at two? This ain’t the law of diminishing returns here, why should I not wear three. Before I get yelled at, I absolutely wear a mask everywhere I have to (which is essentially everywhere outside of my home) and mask compliance is 99% everywhere I go. And I am even in a red state (TN).0

Clowns get clown responses. I wouldn't wear more than on mask, I don't think your ears can handle the extra strain unless you take your foil hat off.gvn2fly1421 said:Got two clown responses and one thoughtful response. 99% mask compliance in TN 🤣🤣🤣Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
A lot more responses which have legitimate points, I appreciate that. To answer one question about letting the virus go undetected, do you think that is not going on now? It is almost certain that the number of “confirmed” or “probable” cases is actually probably doubled or tripled.
Got to run so I am not dodging anyone, have church (masks required) then my daughter has middle school basketball practice! Yay normalcy!0 -
And to give you a non-clown response, not that it's worth my time...
Regarding New York and California, there's this little thing called population density, and it's pretty relevant to things like pesky old pandemics.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -

Do the middle schoolers wear masks or does 99% Tennessee not include the gauntlet that is middle school sports?
Curious to know.

I fall somewhere in the middle
I believe in continuing mask wearing pretty much indefinitely, as well as investing heavily in vaccination and encouraging the public to accept the vaccine when it is available to them. I am also ok with not resuming things such as concerts where thousands of people are crammed shoulder to shoulder inside for hours. Continue working from home if this can be easily done and does not affect performance or outcome.
But I am also really against the continuation of strict lockdowns at this point that some states still have. Restaurants and other small businesses need to be able to open at almost full capacity with patrons continuing to take precautions such as masks, hand washing, and distancing when it can be done.2010: Cleveland

I agree with a lot of what you say except restaurants going back to business as usual. All those people are eating and drinking with no mask. I think being creative in helping those businesses is needed, but the 6’ rule and or ventilation improvements have to happen there.Weston1283 said:I fall somewhere in the middle

1. Try to empathize (Gee, it sure sucks that we are not back to normal yet, have to wear masks, and have some kids remote learning. I'm glad some children can participate in some sports in some places! Your kid is lucky! School and sports are important for our youth!)
2. Point out areas where they are right (like hypocrisy and the new POTUS)
3. Hit em with facts. (Although some articles says this doesn't work. I won't bother since Weston has commented based on his expertise in the scientific community.)I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef
Animals were hiding behind the Coral

That is true. I guess a fully packed restaurant with people standing in a lobby waiting to be seated is problematic.cincybearcat said:

But Massachusetts, for example, is still at a 25% capacity limit for essentially all businesses and restaurants. I think 25% is a little harsh to be honest.... maybe 75% would be reasonable?2010: Cleveland

I don’t know what the square footage to person capacity limits are in those areas. % doesn’t mean anything without knowing that. So - can you have 6’ distance between table? That’s the limitWeston1283 said:

Perhaps suicide and other factors are contributing to those numbers. Could not post image from mobileHobbes said:

It certainly suggests that for certain age groups deaths are up and it is not Covid. What about schools in Las Vegas seeing double the amount of suicides as the normally do? Is it worth sacrificing our youth to save people who might be less than a year from death anyways?0 -

Why are you not posting numbers and making us go to links? Doubling sounds like a lot and any teen suicide death is one too many but we are talking 9 deaths normally to 18 deaths.gvn2fly1421 said:

Really? You don’t see the problem with one of the few people we are trusting to tell us how to get through the pandemic going against her own recommendation? You don’t have a problem with a Governor locking down his state and going to eat indoors at the French Laundry? You don’t have a problem being told masks save lives, yet when I get my hair done I remove it because... maybe it doesn’t make a difference?Spiritual_Chaos said:

The priest example is poor. “Murder... is a crime” sung in my best Know Your Rights voice, whereas spending the Holidays with my family is not.
Their actions tell me they are not scared of the coronavirus. Why should I be scared?0 -
