2003 - Sparta, Buzzcocks, Sleater Kinney - I don't care for any of these bands. I especially hate Sparta.

2004 - Death Cab For Cutie, Gob Roberts - The best opening bands I have seen before Pearl Jam but I liked Death Cab before I saw them at VFC.

2005 - Sleater Kinney - Can't they get a gig other than opening for Pearl Jam? Ladies please for the love of God go on your own tour and give someone else a chance to open for Pearl Jam. I will admitt that SK's drummer impresses me mightily. It can't be easy to play harmonica and drums at the same time.

1998: Frank Black & the Catholics
    2000: Sonic Youth x2, Supergrass x2
    2003: Sparta x2, the Buzzcocks x2, Sleater-Kinney
2004: Death Cab for Cutie x2, Gob Roberts x1 (missed them the first Boston show)
    2005: Supersuckers, Sleater-Kinney x6

Not bad, not bad at all. Oh, and someone with an acoustic guitar opened twelve of those shows; played some Beatles, some Springsteen, even some Pearl Jam, people tell me he's in a band.

I know some people might be getting sick of Sleater-kinney opening for PJ but I have to say I was super-happy this year when it was announced they were back. I have loved S-K since '95 and have seen them a few times on their own but the chance of seeing Pearl Jam and Sleater-Kinney together...!
In 2003 I didn't get to see them because S-K didn't play my leg of the tour. Saw the Buzzcocks... I normally like the buzzcocks but the sound was not too good for them so I didn't really enjoy it.
Seeing Sleater-Kinney and Pearl Jam play together was a dream for me. I thought I missed my chance.

Ladies please for the love of God go on your own tour and give someone else a chance to open for Pearl Jam.

It's not like S-K decides to open up for PJ on a certain part of a tour. If you want to blame someone, blame Eddie.

    2005 Sleater Kinney two times.

Really strange experience. Hated them in London (had to leave!), and absolutely loved them in Hamilton. I even considered buying their music. Although I am still a little unsure about Corin's voice :p
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

I saw Sparta in Albany, they weren't that great, Gob Roberts and Death Cab for Cutie in Boston, they weren't impressive.

Then for some reason at my next show this band called The Rolling Stones played after them. Isnt that strange? Never heard of them before...
    32 shows and counting...

I can relate. I absolutely love Sleater-Kinney but I was underwhelmed by them in Toronto opening for PJ. I think it was the sound. They were fine but the guitars sounded muddy and the vocals weren't loud enough and on certain songs Corin sounded tired. Hamilton was awesome. Can't agree more with you. I loved Sleater-Kinney in Hamilton.
I highly recommend you pick up anything by them. "the woods," "one beat" or "dig me out."
"the Woods" is the best thing they've ever done so start there. (plus you'd recognize most of the songs from the Hamilton show).

They sounded good in Kitchener, but I will agree about the sound in London.

    Janet kicks ass.

    Ben Harper
    Fastbacks
    Mudhoney
    Sonic Youth
    Sleater-Kinney
    Death Cab For Cutie

I've seen some really great opening bands for PJ. With each passing tour, I'm more and more excited that I got to see Ramones in 1995. I also became a huge fan of Ben Harper due to seeing him with PJ in 1996. The rest of them haven't been as important to me, but I'm as proud as I can be about having gone early and enjoyed their performances.

I think it's part of the intended effect for rock concerts. If you skip the opener, you miss out on something the main act wanted you to experience.

Idlewild kicks ass. They are by far the best opening band I've seen for PJ. One day PJ might be opening for them...Just joking..but it could happen.
Buy all their albums. Order them off the internet if you have to. Heres a sampling to get you started

    1992 - Eleven (don't remember a thing about them)
1994 - Grant Lee Buffalo (fabulous!!!)
1996 - Fastbacks (missed them due to the worst traffic jam in the history of the Ohio Turnpike :( )
1998 - Iggy Pop (I love Iggy Pop and have seen him before, but he just didn't have it going on at this show)
2000 - Supergrass (they were ok)
2003 - Sparta (not my cup of tea, but my daughter loves them, and they went out of their way to thank her for her enthusiasm ... made her year, so they're alright by me!)
2003 - Buzzcocks (lots of fun!)
2004 - Gob Roberts (bleh), Death Cab for Cutie (good stuff)
2005 - Sleater Kinney (LOVED it!)
2006 - MMJ (I've missed them so far, been at the CCFA benefits ... I've got one more chance in Pittsburgh, I'm determined to see them then)

    2005: Sleater-Kinney
    2006: My Morning Jacket (x2)

I liked Sparta, but they got a bad reception in Pittsburgh. Death Cab for Cutie really disappointed me live. The Sovereign Center's sound wasn't that great, but it was pretty bad in my opinion, and I like a few of their songs. MMJ is so much better live than on CD - but again the crowd around me in Camden didn't seem that into them. Definantly check them out again. Sleater-Kinney isn't my thing, but tolerable.
