Great list, above. Love Futurebirds and love the newest record. Definitely went for it a couple of times, with the songs more polished than ever. Also, I should have put Local H on my list. That band can do no wrong.0

Damn, i've listened to so much music this year but don't think i've listened to enough new music to compile a top 5 never mind top 20!
The three albums from this year i've loved and played the most are:
1. Pluralone - I Don't Feel Well
2. PJ - Gigaton
3. Brian Fallon - Local Honey0 -
All this does is remind me I'm old. I don't really listen to "new" music, but I've definetely listened to a lot of music I've never heard before in the past year. Unfortunately I'm usually about 3 - 5 years behind these days when it comes to new stuff unless it's one of my favorite bands releasing a new album, which this year were PJ and Deftones. Loved both albums more than anything they've put out in the last 10 years so it was a good year.
Deftones are metal album of the year for me and PJ is rock album.
I will listen to some of the other stuff mentioned in this thread though. I respect Taylor Swift, but cannot get in to her music. It's a hopeless situation...0 -

Oodles of solid releases, and hopefully more finished cooking and ready to pull out of the COVID oven. Also...goes w/o saying... hope the artists are able to make a fair living off their '20 album releases and until they're able to properly tour them.

Happy Friday! What a crazy & musical year....For me, it was a rollercoaster just like for everyone else....but...music helped me navigate this really strange year. This is my list scribbled down on a pad. I definitely have a favorite album, but the rest would vary depending on mood, state of the world, quarantine situation and whatever else was going on.That being said, I think I have a consistent #1. I listen to this album (& talk about it) all the time. (Just ask my amazing wife, Laurel. ) My #2 is solid because it's one of the best albums of all time and this reissue gave us all a glimpse of what else they were working on at that time. After that, it simply depends on the variables listed above. Be well, be safe and wear a mask! Can't wait for 2021 and hope you're all doing well! Ok...here we go.......1- The Strokes: The New Abnormal2- Tom Petty: Wildflowers & All The RestPearl Jam: GigatonJosh Ritter: See Here, I Built You A MansionFiona Apple: Fetch The Bolt CuttersSturgill Simpson: Cuttin' Grass Vol 1 & 2Waxahatchee: Saint CloudDrive By Truckers: The UnravelingDrive By Truckers: The New OKOld 97's: TwelfthEOB: EarthRun The Jewels: RTJ4Matt Berninger: Serpentine PrisonPainted Shield: Painted ShieldBob Dylan: Rough & Rowdy WaysLukas Nelson & Promise of the Real: Naked GardenNeil Young: HomegrownJason Isbell & the 400 Unit: ReunionsMark Lanegan: Straight Songs of SorrowJosiah Johnson: Every Feeling On A LoopMy Morning Jacket: The Waterfall IIThe War On Drugs: Live DrugsMargo Price: That's How Rumors Get StartedPhoebe Bridgers: PunisherI know for a fact that I've left some off, but that's how it goes. There was alot of good music, thankfully:1) Killers-Imploding the Mirage (vintage Killers)2) PJ-Gigaton (my fav PJ of the last 3-4 albums)3) Hotel Mira - Perfectionism (check out their song: This could be it for me, if you like that you will love this album)4) Nothing But Thieves - Moral Panic (weird how an album made pre-pandemic has so many themes relevant to it. The singer has phenomenal range and the music matches it)These four albums will forever remind me of Corona lockdowns.0

Gigaton 9-months-in has already aged way better than LB or selftitled ever did to my ears during the same time measurements. Once the initial excitement wore off on those albums i never wanted to revisit them much. Gigaton is still a go to album in the car or in the gym. Had it back on the turntable the other day. So thats been a nice surprise from a 30 yr old band.Post edited by cp3iverson on0
